OASC delay?

I’m not sure about in the online world, but when it was face to face you’d normally only get one course in the summer holiday and then possibly one at Easter depending on how your local authority did Easter. I assume you’re a teacher?

Anyone know if I can find proposed dates for SSIC on sharepoint using generic login or if I need to ask the adj?

I have had a look but can’t seem to find anything and wouldn’t mind getting it out the way if they will allow smart civillian clothes now.

Sharepoint > Training Hub > Adult Training Facility > SSIC > dates listed there.

Brilliant, thanks

Looks like they plan for residential to return in June so wonder if I should wait and get it out the way in one go rather than half virtual. I would hope to be able to get uniform by then. Don’t want to do a summer one really as would rather leave those spaces for those in the education sector who are limited on availability.

Maybe they should keep both as blended options moving forwards as it allows everyone a chance to attend via both methods if they are restricted to attend for any personal or work reasons?

I am slightly torn as I like the idea of the formality and staying the mess, all part of playing the game, but then I also want to make sure its done in plenty of time with being into that last six months of the 12 month since appointment.

As I would have to attend anyway at some point I am thinking of applying for June or Early July dates and then I haven’t got to potentially use more holidays from work to do the practical elements.

I did the online one and whilst I certainly feel like I missed out on going to the mess I don’t feel I missed out on the delivery of the lessons. It also made it so much easier with childcare

From a selfish point of view I am thinking 3 days for vritual then another 3 days, with arriving the day before, for the drill and other missing module. I don’t expect they are going to offer these on a weekend so its 6 days out of my annual leave or a do it all in one go and just use 5 days. That’s a day I can use potentially for something else be that RAFAC or simply taking myself off into the hills.

Unfortunately my employer only offers unpaid leave for reserve and cadet training :slightly_frowning_face:

Maybe check on the plan for the face to face modules, I seem to recall they’d been dropped for the duration.

I can see the sense in doing it all in one hit rather than doing online now and potentially having to do another bit later. But you do get substantive rank after the online modules or completing the 1 year probation, regardless.

Afternoon all,

I had my Regional Board on the 12th May and was told I am being recommended for a Commission.

Any idea of timelines to appointment?

Thanks

Congratulations!

Not sure there’s a hard and fast rule to timescales, but if it assists I passed my region board on 25 March and my appointment was confirmed (via WHQ) on 4 May.

Congratulations!

Think mine took slightly less time than @ACR but can’t remember the exact numbers.

Thanks, both!

Looking forward to hitting the ground running.

I passed my Regional Board early December and had official letter at the end of January which I thought was very good as Xmas would have closed HQAC down.

Have any other pandemic time appointed people managed to actually get their initial kitting done?

I went into my parent station last week.

Initially bit of a faff as they thought I was trying to get kit out for the cadets… several phone calls later to a supervisor and then back to stores they (almost) apologised and booked me in for the following week.

Calling them when I needed an escort onto base was the worst bit of the whole experience!

Got my appointment letter (SNCO) in September following remote board and finally attended for initial issue at the beginning of this month. Had 2 previous appointments cancelled due to escalating of lockdown conditions. Just received my trousers by mail today following adjustment by the tailor

Is this a task that the individual takes charge of, or do you wait for direction from on high…

I was appointed May 12th (communicated June 14th via weekly reports) but no letter/email appointment as of yet.

Any guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks

I eventually got a letter from HQAC with the form for initial kitting enclosed. I’m not sure what the reference no. is but it’s probably just on Sharepoint somewhere.

I’d already emailed my parent station stores direct though and submitted my sizes in advance. They were fine with that, but still haven’t arranged an appointment for issue due to various other things.

I made all arrangements direct with parent station stores once I had the appointment ‘pack’. Your adj should be able to point you in the right direction if in any doubt but onus was on me to sort everything out.

Depending on stores staff some, like mine, will only accept CFAV on certain dates when tailor is there.

IIRC my board and verbal confirmation was mid July and the appointment letter came about 2-3 weeks after it was confirmed in reports. If I can find the pack later will edit to add the form numbers as I would expect them to be on SharePoint.
