Numismatics (Coin & Medal Collecting)

In a word; Walts.

Notice it says student, not graduate. Some might suggest those students who do not graduate will not be bound by dress regulations and can wear what they want.

I think it’s awarded officially to graduates from foreign armed forces who attend IOT on an exchange basis.

That’s a bit sad really. I’d like a medal following IOT which was a course I hated back in the day and probably deserved one all things considered. Is this something to encourage fee paying overseas students? Do they wear it on pass out parade?

Matches up with most London Airports

I did hear that there’s an unwritten rule that foreign students “never fail” IOT.

This is because once when they went to fail a foreign student at Sandhurst the college commandant received a grovelling apology from the home nation & by way of apology that said student would be executed (by beheading!) on their return to their own country for the dishonour they had brought.

I’ve heard the quality of these OCdts can really vary from really good to barely competent enough to breathe.

That was certainly my experience from the early 80’s. We had some overseas students who spent more time in the bar at CHOM than in the classroom. All graduated with little or no effort. A bit of a travesty really as we all worked our nuts off to get through.

That was my experience with the overseas Officers at ATF

We had one who did fail - Qatari - went AWOL before the Embassy came to collect him!!

I understand they never fail at the three colleges because there could be some pretty horrific consequences for some of them when they return.

And even worse consequences for the bank account of UK plc if those overseas students stop paying for the courses

I used to hate it when the FCDO would call up and tell the Home Office to change their mind on immigration refusals relating to senior people from the same countries because “oil/arms deals/money”. Human Rights means very little when we can make a few quid.

I think that there’s more chance of me having a night out drinking, dancing and engaging in carnal activities with Queen Victoria.

Take away Queen Victoria and isn’t that just a standard, young man’s night in Newcastle, mate?

I believe the convention for miniatures is: "If you look like Kenny Everett… Overlap.

I think Queen Victoria can still be found in the Newcastle Gay Village

Both the CFM clasps and the Broadcloth uniforn age this gentleman…

Been a while since he was described like this.

Yeah, but I’m not THAT far behind him in the grand scheme of things… So for as long as he’s a Youg Man - so am I.
