New RAF Hair Policy

Again. He’s not calling people who challenge changes before they’re brought in dinosaurs. But people who refuse to implement changes when they are.

At this point I’m wondering if you’re actually deliberately misinterpreting what he said for some sort of trolling effect, and starting to lose patience with it.

I know exactly what he says now as he clarified after my comment. However just because people don’t agree doesn’t makectgem dinosaurs, probably just traditionalist but hey guess if you have a different opinion then you either a troll or dinosaur if which i am neither

I vote we get back to talking about hair.

Apparently dinosaurs had feathers so that doesn’t count.

I wonder how quickly these individuals swapped over to MTP PCS from CS95…I suspect they were not so resistant to change on that occasion when it suited them

I dunno judging by some of the staff green uinform I’ve seen I reckon their are some who would still be wearing battledress if they could.

Right that’s it. Full on tantrum mode, deleting posts that aren’t about the new hair policy.

2 parade nights since the policy change and so far none of our female cadets have worn their hair down in uniform. The general feeling seems to be that they appreciate having a choice, but find it more practical to have their hair in a bun.

That said, both nights were very much “hands-on” and in MTP. Will be interesting to see whether any of them feel any different when we’re back in blues next week.

Wait until it’s 0700 on a Thursday at RAF Wherever.

I think then we’ll see more taking the practical route!

I’m imagining more and more ponytails appearing as the week progresses…

We had a cadet with a pony tail last night.

I’ve had 2 cadets wearing their hair in a ponytail so far. The world hasn’t ended, but it does take a bit of getting used to.

I totally forgot about it tonight. I don’t actually know if any of them had it down… the fact that I can’t recall makes me think none did or I think I’d have noticed…

But you know, I was busy running a fun charged, educational, parade night for the cadets rather than worrying too much about the female hair being up or down…

Does that mean you wouldn’t notice if the CCF had long hair?

Just askin’…

In my experience of the CCF, the long hair was always the messy cherry on the messy cake of poor uniform.

I know there must be exceptions, just not seen many in person.

Sadly there is truth in the stereotypes, especially in schools where it’s mandatory.

If only I could find the comic sketch, the the great WO Tonks did for the CCF…

Is it a national (and inter service) thing where some CFAVs are avoiding getting on board with the new hair policies? There is a lot of “not at my unit” or “if I don’t tell them, they won’t be able to do it” happening.

I think it’s just the old school mentality.

“We’ve always worn our hair up, so will continue too”

That’s all very well, but they are only allowed to make that choice for themselves, not their cadets.

A gender neutral uniform is also a good idea too. I remember when my old OC only gave ‘female’ cadets skirts and ‘male’ cadets trousers. I have a female friend who is more masculine in a way and doesn’t wear skirts and our old OC said they could only wear slacks on band nights. When he left our new OC gave skirts and slacks to all female cadets which I think was a great idea as it would include those who are AFAB and non-binary etc.

This is exactly what we do.
They’re entitled to a set of both under inventory so why not!
