New RAF Hair Policy

Heard many stories coming in from various friends on units.

OC / SWO “don’t tell them, I want to keep them uniformed in buns” seems to be a common theme.

I despair for this organisation at times.

It should be posted as an announcement on CP using an Anon Link to the IBN

Argh the old if you don’t agree you are a dinosaur routine. Most cadets will know before the OC due to the power of social media, surely these dinosaurs can’t get on Facebook lol

Correct.

Cant move with the times. Then that person is a dinosaur.

On a personal note. I may not agree with other policies on occasion. But rules are rules.
Comply or leave.

Several squadrons on social media “demonstrating” the new regs… those wanting it kept quiet are going to be fighting a losing battle!

Agreed. We’d need a big door though

Lol.
Yeah indeed.

Also a streamlined pipe to get the next gen of leaders in.

Not aimed at you Paracetamol, but Interesting comment as normally any change in rules or policy is quickly followed by loads of ‘why change’ comments on here.

Joining process, BPSS, etc :man_shrugging:t2:

I will fight and die for the right to ‘engage’ with process development. Sometimes I have success, others not.

But once set as a rule. That’s it.
Comply or leave.

I’m a simple folk really.

The mood is usually dictated by a “benefit or burden” assessment. If something changes that means extra work, the organisation has been pretty poor at explaining the benefits or necessity of it.

Not all change is instantly seen as negative - even here!

I think it depends on the policy. For example:

I questioned the need for some existing staff to do a BPSS. At the time, I’d been in the organisation for 20+ years, had had a number of CRBs, DBSs, CTC checks, and held a current SC. Filling in a new form and asking my WO, and someone from work to provide references would have done the square root of nothing to prevent any predatory or terrorist motives. It did, however take up a chunk of time, and cost money.

Letting female personnel wear their hair down, just seems like a reasonable idea that doesn’t add any time or effort to my volunteering role, and costs the organisation very little.

No, he says he is happy to challenge things in policy development, but once the rule is in will follow it even if he doesn’t like it.

Thats your interpretation I beg to differ.

It’s pretty much exactly what he said…?

That comment was after my comment, which I deleted. my main point was that just because some one has a different view doesn’t makexthem a dinosaur. Hair policy is much about nothing as they all look smart

That’s not what he was saying.
His point was anyone refusing to adapt to a change - whether they agreed with it or not - is a dinosaur.

And thats his opinion, and anyone who challengesxevery single change is just belligerent but hey as long as the dinosaurs get booted
