MyRAFAC - Cadet mobile app for iOS and Android

Its been a few years since I had one, is the requirement still Wedgewood Shirt & Tie?

Afaik yes

First issue has hit the my Adju inbox. Cadet’s parent won’t allow a phone and worry she’ll be excluded from visits to RAF bases as won’t have an ID.

I don’t see the issue? Just tell them that it’s fine if they can’t have a phone, and they’ll still be allowed on camp…?

Agree yeah - But the parents have seen the publicity and have asked, so to them it’s an issue isn’t it that needs explaining

Just tell them to join the 21st century

I know I’ve got a while before having teenagers (and will probably cave to peer pressure) but I’m not sure I’d allow my kids a smart phone at 13/14. I’ve dealt with too many issues pastorally and through inquiries at work.

Does anyone know how quickly SMS synchs with MyRAFAC? Cadets on my unit did EFA on Monday evening but ones sent me a screenshot overnight showing that MyRAFAC shows ‘Not Yet Achieved’

Because the app has a built in ID and it is completely driven by personal data, there isn’t a fake version that staff can login to. However, to ensure staff can see what it looks like, I produced a video walk through and will amend it when new features are added. This was published in the comms that went out as well as on the Bader Hub and RAFAC Vimeo: MyRAFAC - An introduction for cadets and volunteers on Vimeo

Ref staff access to Cadet Portal, we would love to introduce a complete training environment for all of the platforms that allows access with completely made up data. Unfortunately we just haven’t got the capacity to do that currently and therefore the only way of doing it would be to introduce fake data in to the live environment which would then throw out any reporting that we do. It is still on our radar as something to do but just not on the priority list currently with everything else going on.

Apologies I missed some of these questions, the API on the device checks in on a new sign in and every 24 hours currently, we are going to look at some built in manual refresh too, we’ve just wanted to balance the load whilst we launched etc.

Security arrangements for access to a station have been explained on various internally published articles, it wouldn’t be appropriate to publish them publicly given they are OS, but by all means review what has been published and reassure the parent that they won’t miss out.

MyRAFAC has been updated in both the Apple App store and Google Play store!

The new release allows cadets to see events that have been published to them and bid for/sign up to/withdraw from activities.

Will it prompt an update when it’s opened?

:man_shrugging: smartphones do, no idea about the app itself.

So this app now replaces cadet portal?

In which case… what happened to “we will never make it an app”.

The RAFAC Digital Branch (ex VSDT) didn’t make it . . . so it still stands. the Appivate team offered.

More important question is what happens in 2 years time when Apptivate either loses interest or doesn’t exist anymore?

Just a quick question.

Are cadets still using the app or has it died?

Ours are still using it. As far as I understand, it’s the main way they sign themselves up for events.
