I hope that squadrons have to report up the CoC those times that cadets are refused access to stations using the new app.
This is boring now.
I for one am.looking forward to seeing the end of the 3822.
No more admin for staff writing them out.
No more worrying if that form (remember its a form), is upto date etc.
No more last minute replacements for camp etc.
One data source. SMS / UNITS feeding cadet portal, this myrafac and volunteer portal.
Much better.
My only concern remains avaulability to all cadets. But there is only so much that can be done.
I have now added to my Sqns JIs, that cadets require smart phone access for some cadet activities and admin purposes.
Did a little, very unscientific audit at my place.
Couple of lingering questions that it would be good to have definitive answers to;
-A couple have older iphones, do we have an answer on the backwards compatibility of the app?
-A few have Huawei phones, which while nominally Android, donât have access to the Google play store because of Googleâs legal position. Do we have an alternative route for them? Can we/they access the .apk file after the launch date and would that allow them to access the app?
-For the very few (mostly youngest) cadets who donât have them, what is the no phone process?
Never really thought about this, maybe the APK file can be shared somehow
Once the app is released in the wild. It will definitely be possible to get the apk, I would however be rather cautious of the installing it unless from a well trusted source.
There is the Huawei App Gallery. Hopefully MyRAFAC will be available on there as well.
My Sqn have had the app for a few weeks now, as part of the trial. Those with iPhone 6 cannot download it, as their iOS isnât a recent enough version. I fed this back as we were requested to do, but didnât get anything back. So I guess they just canât have it.
If I recall, this is an Apple policy - IIRC (in essence) new apps are only allowed to support iPhone 7+.
Yeah, appreciate fully that itâs both something outside our control and a minority of cadets. Would just be nice to know if a work around was being thought of. Donât mind if itâs going to be late.
Happy Launch Day!
âAnything can happen in the next half hourâ
Hi, regarding the photo that will be shown on the MyRAFAC App:
When uploading through Cadet Portal, the guidance given to cadets is:
Head & Shoulders Passport-Style and:
- Instantly recognisable as you
- Not too close or too far away
- Nothing partially covering your face (no sunglasses)
- No image filters
It doesnât even say to wear uniform!
For professionalism, my Sqn are intending to take them in wedgewoods, tie, jumper and wearing a beret.
I was wondering if anyone knows if a standard requirement for a photo exists - especially as the MyRAFAC app is now an ID acceptable on Stations?
The marketing campaign uses this image:
Thanks
I donât think thereâs a standard except from those guidelines. Though, I would suggest that a beret partially covers your face.
Would recommended not doing this bit. It says passport style, so Iâd stick closely to the passport photo rules, which say no head covering, unless for religious reasons.
Yet, the marketing campaignâŚ

Iâll be sticking to what the rules say, not what the PR people have shown. Passport style = no head-dress in my mind. You wouldnât be allowed to wear a hat in any other proper form of ID, I see this as no different!
surely just treat it like a MOD 90??
Which uses the passport photo requirements, no?
