Ever wonder why?
kids getting issued a combat uniform before frontline troops?

You are a YOUTH organisation.

You have no NEED for PCS.Its a clothing system designed for Osprey body armour.

Its attitudes like this that make me cringe about cadets. And why I would never get in uniform for the ACO.

Negative my friend. Not trolling.

God, some people take the idea of cadet forces wearing their precious Military PCS a bit too seriously.
Who gives a toss?
You have no NEED for PCS.Its a clothing system designed for Osprey body armour.
No it isn’t - it’s a normal combat/field uniform that’s been optimised to work with body armour - but I’ll bet that 80% of the total time spent wearing it in regular service will be without body armour. It works fine either way!

Apart from the UBACS (which would be necessary for cadets) the only major change specifically for body armour has been to the LW jacket. The field jacket is pretty much identical to late-issue CS95 jackets and the trousers are different so that they last longer and so that you can get into the pockets whilst sitting down - nothing to do with Osprey at all.

Unless he’s referring to those Osprey leggings We’ve heard so much about…

Fun fact: PCS was originally trialled in Desert DPM. Not strictly relevant but I thought I would bring it up.

The jackets are not identical. The cut and internal material is a lot different. It’s terrible for cold weather.

And the trousers have improved fitting and better cut for use with the Groin protection used with osprey. So while not being trousers as such…

When they introduce new in service body armour no doubt it will change.
And PCS is already in the planning process of changing.

So all the people buying PCS will just have to break out the wallets.

We would often tailor our old Desert DPM shirts to have flat pockets woth small zips and hoods. For use with the Osprey.

But none of this ridiculous side Velcro pockets or arm pockets.

It’s certainly not a new concept.

The defence clothing team certainly apparently thought it necessary!

Is that why there is now development already for a replacement?

And why people in many different environments cut them off? And for daily duties cut useless bits of Velcro off?

And the good idea fairies seem to think a lot of things are necessary… Doesn’t mean they are right…

The next version of the PCS lightweight jacket is already in production. It’s alright.

Perhaps you should ask your colleagues who passed the design during the user trials.

The more he posts, the more convinced I am that our friend has never actually been a real soldier…

Apologies for dragging this one up again, I know it’s been done to death. Was having a think last night, has anyone had any luck by getting chummy with there local ACF? And blogging a loads from there stores?

All PCS uniform items are accounted for. Unless the local ACF has blagged a load from a local barracks you will be out of luck.

Yes, it worked fine. We now have more DPM than we can shake a stick at…

Now… there’s an image…

purely out of curiosity, whats the plan regarding brown boots and MTP in the ACO?

In what regard? They are currently permitted, not mandated, not provided.
