Can’t understand why some are so excited about MTP. It won’t make you any better at what you do, unless the wearers will now feel the real deal.
Sigmund Freud would have a field day with some ACO members
Couldnt put it better myself! we really do have some very sad people in the ACO
It is looking like it will be worn in the same manner as CS95.
As for the badging, I’d wait for 1.03 of AP1358C to see what they say.
The great wodge of Velcro on the arms is perfectly placed…(so it wont be there )
I’ve used Velcro on my CS95 since the TRF and ‘Air Cadets’ badges were introduced simply because there were not enough badges for me to use on every DPM shirt I would wear over a few days - no one noticed

It’s OK saying that we’ll start to run out of CS95.
The fact remains, and it is FACT, and in my old job I should know after all; that there are still thousands upon thousands of sets of CS95 out there. Now, I grant you, that they may not be available off the shelves as MTP is the new issue.
But, CS95 in surplus shops, other Sqn’s stores; etc are still about and because of the arrival of MTP are dirt cheap. Certainly a lot, lot cheaper than MTP and after all, it’s the Cadets who will be buying them, who should be our main concern at getting kitted out, not CFAV.
If CFAV really are so desperate to get MTP, then they could always join up. Apparently there are no shortages of MTP in warmer climes.
There’s also still some '94 pattern kit out there… but I’m pretty sure that we couldn’t kit the entire ATC out in it in decent, servicable kit that fits. At some point, '95 kit will go the same way and we will have to change over to MTP. Considering that it’s inevitable, I really don’t see the issue in allowing the change to start now.
PMSL. I’ve got loads of both. I was an ex-regular and as such don’t feel so “needy” to wear what real soldiers do.
Jeez, for heaven’s sake! All I’m trying to put over is that there is CS95 out there and it’s cheaper than MTP which isn’t that brilliant anyway as you’ll find out when you start wearing it for any period of time, and that ultimately it’s the small people in our organisation we should be more concerned about!

Unfortunatly we will always get CFAV’s that just want to make themselves look “the part” I know of a few like it but yes you are right Cadets should always come first no matter what. The CFAV’s that are desperate to get into MTP seem to be the ones that couldnt join up and like to think they are in now shouting at young kids.
I agree with what racing stick is saying, about the small people but the things I am hearing is why is the acf getting to wear it and we are not.
The impression I get from the cadets is that why should they have the new kit and we cant.
Its simple the ACO is a blue uniform force just like the RAF our working dress are No 2’s where as the Armys is No 3 we wear the working dress of our parent force.
If the RAF updated No 2’s we would get it just as the ACF have
The reason I’m happy about MTP being wearable is because it means cadets won’t have to buy kit. I have always been on units where effective staff scrounging has always ensured that we have enough PWS CS95 to issue it to everyone on unit. No cadet was ever expected to purchase No3 uniform. Now we can legitimately scrounge MTP cadets won’t need to buy from the dwindling stock of CS95 in good nick.
And i still absolutely fail to understand this distinction between looking like regulars and cadets. The public don’t see the difference. They see camo. Pure and simple. The only people who know the difference are the regulars, and when they see us in CS95 they can instantly tar us all with the same brush. Now we can look the same we, as CFAVs will be judged on our merits, not what kit we wear.
Personally I like the idea we can now wear it, I was just taken back by a few that seemed obsessed with the topic, which for me felt slightly unhealthy.
My main concern (as I’ve not witnessed a uniform transition before) is will it coarse any friction/jealousy for cadets when some have new over old?
The real big question is…will the new MTP take the stretching some of our staff will give it!
The ACF are scaled for combat clothing: they get it issued from MOD sources.
Those MOD sources are no longer getting new CS95 as the contracts have been changed - they now get in MTP-PCS. The only thing that the ACF can be issued new is the MTP kit so they are moving into MTP formally and aiming to maintain a greater level of uniformity.
The ATC’s concerns are different in that we don’t get issued the new stuff so it is less urgent. We will still be hit by the lack of availability of new CS95 and the lack of PWS from service sources as the supply dries up. It was always the only sensible way forward for us to be permitted to use MTP and eventually most of our No3 dress will be he current RAF No3 uniform.
No 3 dress is warm weather ceremonial uniform. Army working dress would generally by either No 8 (combat dress) or No 13/14 dress (temperate barrack dress).
The only uniform that we are scaled for in the ACF is combat dress and it is supplied by the Army, which is why we get MTP.

For the RAF No3 dress is operational clothing so CS’95 and MTP No 8 is warm weather mess dress
