Mtp

Well, here’s the Army direction, almost as muddled as ours…

Wearing Of Personal Combat System – Combat Uniform

ISSUE

  1. The Chief of the General Staff’s (CGS) direction on the wearing of Personal Combat System – Combat Uniform (PCS-CU) jacket.

TARGET AUDIENCE
2. All Regular, Army Reserve and Cadet Force personnel.

KEY POINTS
• Direction on how the Combat Uniform jacket is worn is a matter for the unit chain of command.
• Units are to publish the manner of dress on Part One orders.

BACKGROUND
3. At the 2013 RSM’s Convention, CGS gave verbal direction that units could wear the Combat Uniform jacket how they wished in barracks so long as there was consistency within the unit as a whole. This Army Briefing Note codifies that direction.

DIRECTION
4. Units may wear MTP in any of the following configurations:
• Jacket tucked in with sleeves rolled down.
• Jacket tucked in with sleeves rolled up.
• Jacket out with sleeves rolled down.
• Jacket out with sleeves rolled up.
5. Units are to publish the manner of wearing Combat Uniform on Part One orders.
6. When on detached duty or on a course, all ranks are to conform to local direction.

I am rather hoping that the direction will follow those for CS95, in that:

  • it is worn tucked in but can be untucked if conditions mean it is sensible and local commander authorises
  • sleeves are up if the individual is warm and down when they are cold (or if otherwise required)

Most of all, though, I am hoping the direction will be:

  • clear
  • soon

my bold
(i maybe reading this too literally but…)

does that imply that CS95 Gore-tex is issues to “individuals and/or units”?

It goes on to Ultilearn because that’s the only place cadets can access it.

That basically sounds like it’s gunna be CO’s Descretion

Fine. But they should update the version on sharepoint as well.

£10 on people wearing MTP rank slides until told you can’t.

£20 on people wearing MTP rank slides AFTER being told you can’t

£30 on someone being banned from wearing MTP altogether despite this LM.

Until OC Wings, Regions and HQAC get involved…

The old adage, 1 rule, 1000 varients.

It should be, but some brigades are ignoring that and setting their own rules.

Of course I will be untucking the jacket in the field if told to tuck it in in barracks.

Oh well…

I an told JL DS are wearing it tucked in and down. With no TRFs (awaiting the decision on a new TRF for all ranks)

No wearing the lightweight jacket out as they wear smocks in the field without lightweight jackets underneath.

Even in the height of summer? Harsh.

£50 to the person who can fit normal blue rank slides to the MTP uniform, it certainly seems wider than the blue slides.

Duty rumour but I heard you have to velcro it onto the blanking patches…

Not a problem course only runs from September until April.

I bet £10 on someone moaning that MTP backed pilot officer and flying officer braid is wearing an MTP rank slide.

I stitched my blue slides and gilt ATC pins onto a DPM backing to see if I could tempt anyone to complain that I’m “Not allowed DPM rank slides!!!”.

I’ll have to do the same with MTP.

But why? That’s such a lot of effort.
