You might need to sit down for this one then

Saw it at DSEI and it was well ally

Dragon Supplies also stock it. Must say I’m tempted but I already have a decent PRI/Karrimor SF toploader.

See, I reckon that OG is allier than MTP. It implies that you’ve been around the block a few times, like a CS95 belt.

I got my DPM NI Patrol Pack (in my wish list further up this thread). Well not quite. I got 2. Good to have a spare…

HM Supplies do a 45l simple daysack for £55 on DPM or OG, or £70 for MTP…

Apparently it’ll take PLCE side pockets as well.

There’s a 28 litre daysack on Kombat uk for £30

I had that very sack. An absolute beaut. And comfortably took the side pouches. Looked more ally with the Karrimor PRI ones though.

This is a nice basic daysack: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTP-MULTICAM-20-LITRE-PATROL-PACK-DAYSACK-MILITARY-RUCKSACK/192780365532

I gave one away to a cadet once. The basic one is lightweight and foldable so can easily by stashed in a bergen when not in use. For a more solid back I would get it with the extra foam. This would go in the internal pocket so you could take it out to put it in a bergen. It seemed well made. Makes a nice change from the £100 daysacks on offer.

Looks decent. Laptop sleeve’s a good idea too.

I like the simplicity and modular design, but it’s only 20l - is that big enough for a grotty day at Otterburn, or Sennybridge, or Catterick?

Softie jacket, waterproofs, food, brukit, hat, gloves, spare map, Haribo and group shelter?

I think it would probably fit, yes. Might require careful arrangement though.

Kitmonster have a selection of used DPM NI patrol packs for sale - £26 for unmodified, £29 for modified - the modified ones have either had the side pockets removed, or the side pockets and one of the two lid pockets removed.

Personally I’d go for the modified one with the side pockets removed, but both lid pockets retained.

No connection etc… Kitmonster have a very good reputation, I’d be happy to buy used gear from them with no worries about quality or condition.

I’ve used kit monster before. Good stuff.

The top pocket on the NI daysack got in the way when prone with a helmet. So for cadets it should be fine to retain the top pocket. Although, why ditch the side pouches?

If you really want one mate, I have one somewhere with just the side pouches taken off. With the top pocket still on?

You will notice that there’s a 3rd party top flap for sale for the viritus daysacks and Bergans, because for some reason they never listened to us about the topflap and mugged it off.

Nooo! Who hurt those poor daysacks?

(For cadet activities I think the lid and side pockets are useful)

I agree - the side pockets are useful for stashing waterproofs where they are a) available, and b) won’t get everything else wet, but (and this is crucial) they do look better without the side pockets. Very Munro-esque…

My Sqn bought two dozen NI packs for both FC and AT and they get constant use - fantastically robust, and more than enough room for everything a cadet would need for a long day in high country in cold, wet conditions.

And they are cheap as chips, which is a good thing.

Brew kit in one, waterproof or tarp in other, first aid kit in top pocket.

Seconded, we did the same for years. Brilliant things.

Gucci. Proper old skool cool. A daysack older than most of your WSO’s…

(No, it’s not me flogging it…)
