MTP Daysack

To continue the ‘bargains of eBay’ theme…

I’ve just bought a Berghaus Cyclops Vulcan 90l rucksack for £19.99, with £6 postage.

It needs a new belt buckle, which I’ve already ordered for £4, and my local saddlery with sew on for about £3.

Given the number of rucksacks I already own - my wife thinks I have some really creepy fetish - I may donate this one to the Sqn. Or I may just keep it…

That is indeed a bargain.

My Bergen collection is growing too. I really want an NI Patrol Pack. I don’t actually need one.

Shall we ask the Moderators to create a self-help group for us?

Only if i can join. I have more bags than most. 12 at the last count.

The NI patrol pack was fantastic and sorely missed. Just cut that top flap off and it’s perfect.

I bought one from a surplus store years ago and trimmed it down, top flap off, side pouches off. Was a good little grab bag when space was tight.

Now that is awesome. I have a huge growing collection of military kit, there’s some awesome bargains and good old school kit to pick up in surplus and flea bay.

Lads used to go mental for brand new gear but I was happy with old school stuff and cut/sew it to what I needed.

Hi, I’m Angus, and I’ve got a rucksack problem.

hi Angus…

2 PLCE longback Inf DPM Bergens. Both with that stupid pocket on the front chopped off and an elasticated fabric mesh pocket replacing it. Why I’ve got two the same…?

1 pimped PLCE longback Inf DPM Bergen. Backpad, gull wings, wider shoulder straps, bivvy pouch, elasticated fabric mesh pocket on the front, mesh bladder pocket on side, floating lid.

1 pimped Berghaus Cyclops Roc. Elasticated fabric mesh pocket on the front, backpad, water bladder mesh pocket on the side, QR clips changed.

1 unpimped old-style Berghaus Cyclops Crusader. QR clips changed, mesh pocket on the front.

Berghaus Extrem Guide 50l climbing rucksack.

POD Black Ice 50l climbing rucksack.

Berghaus Cyclops Vulcan.

Berghaus Munro.

Karrimor Predator 45.

Karrimor Sabre 45.

Lowe Alpine Cragsac 35l.

Alpkit Gourdon 20l.

Decathlon 20l - really nice actually…

There’s doubtless others, what brought it home was that when we moved here, I filled up my car - Mondeo estate - with all my, err… stuff.

I took it for a walk…

The fanciness of the backpadding took a bit of getting use to after many years of the simplicity of the Roc and the Inf Bergen, but it’s not at all bad as a rucksack, actually very comfy when you get used to it.

(Sniff), not bad for £20 I suppose…

Berghaus have brought out a new Munro daysack - same design, but with a bit of molle on the front and in MTP.

A steal at £105…

Oooooooh shiny…

To be honest, I thought that Berghaus had stopped making military kit! They don’t seem to list anything on their official site - it’s good to see that I might be wrong.

It may be pricey, but come the end of WWIII it’ll be the only thing left along with the cockroaches. Not sure that it’s worth £30 over the OG one though…

Gucci saves lives…

There’s a bloke on Instagram churning out ‘munro’d’ NI patrol packs - he takes the side pockets off and sprays the DPM with a light grey paint in a small grid pattern to produce an MTP like effect.

You’d think it would look gash, but they aren’t bad…

(No connection etc…)

Can’t find it… Just saw some pictures. Did a search but couldn’t find it again.

Dragon Supplies in Colchester have got a few shinies - specialist stuff for staff, not cheap, but not outrageous, and their stuff is very good quality.

I rather liked this one - 35l main compartment, 3 utility pouches and a basha pouch. £119.
