MTP Daysack

Sadly, Dixie’s Corner, firstly of Sennybridge and lately of Brecon, are no more.

Apparently the owners got divorced, it all went nasty, and that was that.

One of the members of staff has carried on via fleabay banksbags on eBay (banksbags, of the link fails) but they don’t yet seem to be to making gearlike bergens and beltkit…

Ooh, some interesting looking kit on that link.

Not anything I need, plenty I want!

Does anyone have an up to date recommendation for a daysack suitable for cadets to use on ex etc?

Some of the kit mentioned above is no longer available, some of the manufacturers have changed pattern/material.

What are folk using now?

Ideally new as I am considering buying a set to lend out. £50 price range, could go a little higher if it is worth it.

(Despite the thread title it need not be MTP, equally happy with green or tan)

We purchased Kombat UK daysacks for our cadets doing fieldcraft and they’re doing the job just fine

Which ones did you get?

I’d probably still go for the issue DPM daysack: big enough for a winters day at Garelochhead - waterproofs, flask, lunch, softie, hat, gloves, massive pack of Haribo etc…

cheap as chips, utterly indestructible, and faded DPM looks like MTP, and it’s a lot more ally…

Kitmonster would be a good bet, or potentially Ramco, who now have the MOD disposals contract - Field Textiles lost it…

That would have been my go to but they seem to be hard to find now (Kitmonster no longer lists them, and no joy at RAMCO)

There’s a “Cadet bergen” (which now has a proper NSN) which is very similar to the DPM NI Patrol Pack (as we called them!) that Angus has mentioned. I’m not convinced it’s as robust as the Patrol Pack… But if they aren’t available, it makes for a good alternative.

And its relatively cheap here…

These ones for Bronze Fieldcraft and some of the smaller 28l ones for cadets doing silver blank fire for carrying waterproofs, spare clothing, ear defenders and other bits when working away from the main admin/bivvy area

I’ve seen these around, a tad larger than the NI Pack. A very good price, would be hard to match that from a trade supplier in the quantities we need and presumably the SCC gets a bit of income, which is a win

Oddly the 25ltr is more expensive!
