And back to Road Marching.
Didn’t somebody mention there was due to be an IBN released by the end of last week regarding what’s going to happen? Has anyone seen it yet, haven’t seen anything on SharePoint yet🤔
Beat me to that comment
Would be nice if, just for a change, HQAC kept to the timescales given😱
In other news…
The Dutch Organisers have just announced a change to the registration process… of significant interest to individuals… and “loose teams”

Essentially, it’s first come, first served!
This is of particular use to “small teams” and groups of friends.
Previously for a team, you obviously needed a team leader and a minimum of 11 people in the team on the first day - so if you list some through injury and didn’t have enough on day 1, you were disqualified.
If you didn’t have enough for a team - and it was your first time, beiges of the ballot, you weren’t all guaranteed place…
Second, if you have a group that is spread out over a number of counties or even countries - you may not be able to train together and so may not have the same walking pace. This way you could all start together and then rendezvous near the end, to finish together… allowing for slower walkers to take their time
This could make things invaluably simpler for some groups!
IBN is imminent. I would expect before the 21st
What month and year?
Probably
Looks like it’s been released!
(Can’t actually see it as SharePoint on mobile is rubbish, but I got the notification!)
The IBN should be out now. Can’t check as i am away from a pc
There’s a lot of background and explanation of the concerns, which is good.
Unfortunately, it provides absolutely no clarity for Nijmegen 2023. Specifically: is there any RAFAC participation this year (whether restricted to BMC or otherwise)?
There is a promise to “Ensure the timely accessibility of clear policy, advice and guidance for RM activities”. I look forward to clear policy, advice, and guidance no later than Jan 2023 to allow for timely planning of activities.
I thought you could only go if you were over 16? That’s certainly been the limit in the Wings / Regions I’ve been connected with.
Same here. Even our civilian teams were limited to 16
For military teams, this was the case. I heard a rumour this might be increased to 18.
For civvy teams, our Wing minimum age was 14
That would be a local rule, my old wing which is heaving into RM has always taken much younger on the Civvy teams
I particularly like this sentence…
“Comdt RAFAC retains full command of all RAFAC personnel”
… if you have to state it…
But only on RAFAC duty. We can still be free spirits in our own time!
Like now.
To be fair that’s probably because putting RAFAC teams under the BMC one star means there’s potential for conflict of command so it just needed clarification.
So the most telling line
So new commandant, wide spread national concern re heat wave, an activity he is completely unfamiliar with & a recent report that highlighted significant issues but was not actioned & nothing was done. That’s a perfect storm of issues.
Whilst the manner of the decision had a lot to be desired, the actual decision is a lot more understandable.
