And also add new information as this form I believe collects information not already on SMS? That might be total rubbish as I’ve still not looked at it in detail. As always, happy to be corrected!
Sure sure got that.
It was the upload location…
Why didnt the ibn actually provide guidance notes
Now up to version 3, personally I will be uploading what ever form parents send in
There’s nothing more that you can do than that. Unless they are expecting us to check that it’s the latest version and if not ask parents for another copy? If that is the case then this really isn’t a job for the volunteer cadre of this organisation.
Heard stories of a staff member printing off a form on a Thursday parade night, getting it completed and signed, meanwhile the form is updated on Bader on the Friday, form sent to Wing HQ, who receive on Monday and reject it, as its out of date…
My main issue with these are the names.
We now have:
Royal Air Force Air Cadets Form 3822A Royal Air Force Air Cadets Consent Certificate
And
Royal Air Force Air Cadets Form 3822H Royal Air Force Air Cadets Cadet Health Declaration Form
Or RAFAC F3822A RAFAC Consent Certificate and RAFAC F3822H RAFAC Cadet Health Declaration Form.
Such snappy titles! Why do we need RAFAC twice, and then cadet again in the health one?
Too true. This is a missed opportunity to implement an electronic consent form that automatically updates SMS. Instead it’s a badly implemented rush job that generates extra workload for volunteers just as we’re all trying to rebuild our Sqns.
Contrast it with the personal email addresses rollout, which has good comms, clear actions and flexible timescales. It just shows that HQAC can do things the right way, working with volunteers. With these consent forms, they just don’t care what pressure they put on CFAVs.
Absolutely a key point here. 14 months of strain, false starts, “not what we signed up for”, additional admin just for standard lessons, inspections, risk assessments, evolving guidance, plus personal stress and pressure, mental health through the floor nationally, retention crumbling, the effort required to not only just keep going but work harder to actually achieve opening…
BOOM new Risk Assessment form and (later, for some reason) training package
Followed quickly by
BOOM (practically) no notice extra admin sent straight to parents
Has anyone else noticed that the consent data on SMS has disappeared from cadets? I thought it might have been an error when we created their profile but as none of my cadets seem to have it, my guess is that it has been deleted as part of this?
Yes, we’ve got the same thing. All consents on SMS have been removed. We’ll have to cross check with the original 3822A until the new ones have been uploaded and records updated. Yet more unnecessary workload! What a mess!!
That is ridiculous. I’m due to take cadets gliding at the end of the month and now, rather than checking SMS, I’ll need to either email parents and chase this new form or drive to the sqn to look through their hard copy.
Same with photos.
This is a sick joke right?
Another complete oversight by those who should know better
Given all the extra admin and paperwork who’s for asking for full time paid adj for each Sqn lol
Given were volunteers it’s like having second full time job.
What ever happened to less admin
Yes. Very annoying.
If I were going to guess I would say that, if the consent has been intentionally removed from all cadets on SMS, it could likely be because RAF Legal have identified a need to ‘re-consent’ all cadets from the effective date. In that case I’d wager that the old hard copy 3822As will not be valid anyway…
I’d get chasing for the new form.
I’ve certainly not heard any mutterings to support that - There was no mention that “All previously given consent is now void” or the like; but given how close it is I don’t think I’d want to take chances.
Yes, but we have until November to get them uploaded. What do we do in the meantime?
Hopefully it’s just a poorly advised or accidental SMS tweak.
Sounds like one for VoV maybe?
4 options that I can think of, none of them great and all using up lots of CFAV time unproductively. 1) chase consent forms and assume all consent is removed until then 2) refer to the paper 3822A until a new one is received 3) update SMS based on old 3822A and re-enter when the new version arrives 4) go NEP for 6 months’ and hope someone else sorts it out for you (mostly joking)
If nothing else this and the RA rubbish shows that there is little concern for the people doing the dirty work ie CFAV. They place little value on us, other than their paper and e file shufflers. Welcome back to the Air Cadets … plus ca change.
@grounded you left out one option let the Cranwell seat warmers do it all for us, Air Cdre down. Let them get a taste of what it’s like to volunteer, then maybe, just maybe they would desist from pouring their administrative bilge all over us.
As mentioned over year of the CFAV keeping the Air Cadets ticking over while going through all manner of variations of personal distress, just so some very well paid civil servants, do nothing remotely positive for Air Cadets can keep their jobs. Not heard of any redundancies, pay cuts or furloughs etc within Cranwell or senior Air Cadet management.
