Meanwhile, at my local club, our manager was sacked in 2019, 2 games before the end of the season, despite us being safely mid-table. His replacement had 2 good seasons, but has been dire this season and left “by mutual consent” this week. Cue the need to find someone to take charge this weekend and who does the chairman decide to call? The guy he unceremoniously dumped in 2019.

Life in the lower leagues…

Why was he dumped?

Or am I reading “safely mid table” with too much optimism when I should be seeing as in a negative way?

I’m not sure. I don’t think anyone is tbh  The rumour mill was circulating that the new guy was already being lined up to take over, although he wasn’t actually appointed until the season had finished.

By safely mid table, I mean 13th, whereas the season before we had finished 17th.

oh so little reason to remove the incumbent as they had improved performance…

At that time, yes. If the chairman wanted to appoint a new manager they considered would get better results for the following season, then fine. But to sack the incumbent with 2 games to go when neither promotion nor relegation were at stake was shoddy. And yet almost 3 years later he’s been brought back “in the short term” to clear up the mess left by his successor.

Ha. Haha. Hahaha.

It was shocking. We missed so many chances we don’t deserve to go through

What’s the fan sentiment at the moment about the ditching of Ollie/appointment of Rangnick?

Should probably be in the MML thread, but Chelsea not being able sell tickets or merchandise!

So how many Chelsea fans will be heading off to Ukraine/doing a blitz raid on Moscow?

Sad to see my side has banned Dambusters from being played pre match.

Just seems another example of ‘cancel culture’

Or a case of being sensitive and temporarily stopping something that people may find inappropriate…

I know of entire events that have been cancelled citing Ukraine.

It’s a bit like bragging about naturally conceiving quadruplets in a fertility clinic to be celebrating and commemorating war victories in Europe while a country of Europe is at war with another.

And what has Dambusters March got to do with Ukraine?

Take it up with them if you’re determined to pull that thread.

There’s no help nor hope for you here.

Let’s talk football instead.
