As long as you have at least two lines of post-nominals, your rank and RAF AC (sic), and “For OC”, you will meet the standard criteria.
They got that well & truly wrong! A lot of the ACTO is written as if for a first time (ever) email user.
Happy days of the Office Simulator at Cranditz - it got re-written / standardised by a select team with superior admin skills - one pilot (me), one navigator (re-treading to become a padre), & the USA exchange officer.
Playing Airman Bloggs for the various interviews, what a giggle. Got physically pushed back (very firmly) into my chair by Off Cadet “Flt Lt” Smith when playing Airman Bloggs - he didn’t want me to leave when I said that the WO needed me back in the engine bay.
Ten mins later, after a quick 'phone calls to OC Plod, 2’s & blues on, 2 cpl Police turned up, with a snarling dog. Off Cadet “Flt Lt” Smith arrested / cuffed for assault, taken to their van. Let him stew for 10 mins. Very good learning point to all (lots of wide eyes) - never touch an airman!
Shooting - RSDs - e-signatures.
I’m having huge issues with trying to get e-signature active on my Macbook Air - the add-on isn’t there.
The Wg Shoot Off will accept documents another way, so that’s a solution for the time being.
Don’t read on if this isn’t relevant to your knowledge base - lots of rubbish!
Been going round in circles, the RAFAC solution doesn’t work (not through want of them trying). I’ve Googled extensively, nothing useful that I can find to fit my circumstances.
I hit a major problem at the very start of the process - I do not have a signature “add-on” that shows up in Word when I select " INSERT" - I have to be taken to the MS App Source linked page & choose one of the “e-signature” apps. (I have screen shots of the various areas I’ve looked at if they would help.)
Most of these seem to be require the possibility of “additional purchases may be required” & I’m not 100% sure if / how they are compatible with the RAFAC stated requirements.
Anyway, I’ve tried one of the free ones & but can’t move further on to see what happens / if I can link it to my RAFAC email address…
It seems that to use an add-on, it’s necessary to sign in to your Microsoft account - which I haven’t done for decades, password = ???
Password recovery attempt" = “Unfortunately, our automated system has determined that the information you provided was not sufficient for us to validate your account ownership.”
Wonderful.
Had to go through the palaver of adding new email - the picture matching verification is “fun” - not! Then when trying to sign in, I get “account switch noticed - unable to verify account,” even although I’m signed in to MS now. Arrrgh!!
So, counting the previous time when I tried, I’m up to about 4 hrs of trying to fix this. Very frustrating.
Any clues much appreciated. Looks like maybe 2 linked issues - use of e-signature add-on + MS account problem???
If you got this far, well done!
Solution - buy a windows machine.
Is this something specific to RSDs?
Yes. Annoying that it’s unlike most solicitors / companies, where an email from your account has legal standing.
Just a thought, does it work if you use the online version of the form within Bader SharePoint?
Not viable - there might be a template RSD, but it would mean copy / pasting each time all the same relevant / repetitive details specified for the range / location.
If you save your version on your Bader OneDrive you should be able to open with online version of Office. Not sure it will solve the issue but it worked for me when I had to use some daft Wing form.
Or use the template and copy & paste just the once?
Ta - will have a look.
EDIT - uploaded a document - went to find signature option - needed add-on…
“Unfortunately, your organization has disabled access to the Office Store. Please contact your administrator to request access.”
That’ll be a no then.
If the problem remains, with 2 - 3 ranges planned each month, that’s a nope.
Just copy the sig from an email from somone in ur area and edit it
I was thinking along the lines of copying common data over to a clean online template with the working signature, then saving it, and using that to create the subsequent ones. But yes still a pain.
The strange thing is after all the faffing with opening up a new MS account (not a 2 min job!), & being signed in, the MS log-in to “activate” the e-signature add-on is throwing up the “account switch noticed - unable to verify account” message.
I would like to think that solving this would be 90% of the solution, but no idea how to resolve it.
All I can do is offer moral support & suggest using a bigger hammer
Have you tried downloading Adobe reader as an app on the MacBook? That’s what I’m going to try.
I have set up my RSD and AI as a template in Word - just need to change dates etc
Then print to PDF
Have created a Digital Signature in Adobe and then sign the PDF
Not sure if the MS signature works for us for reasons above plus I think this use case is for signing with mod.uk domain - when I tried it is said sig cannot be verified ie outside of domain
Ta - will see if that works out.
The e-signature links to the RAFAC account?
In Adobe
Preferences>Signatures>Identities and Trusted Certificates>More>New>A New Digital ID I want to Create Now
Create it as Rank/Name etc - its not signed in anyway by RAFAC but at least it has its own certificate for authentication
Then sign away in Adobe
Tools>Certificates>Digitally Sign point Adobe at where you saved the Digital ID file
I am no expert but I think this is where the problem lies - we all work outside of the RAFAC account so no way to certify the signatures as within the org - using the online apps do not have the sign add ons
As usual looks like trying to get us to use the same internal policy as the ‘big boys and girls’ but with us outside the playground - yet again we will end up with some sort of fudge around to make it work
Happy to be contradicted by those that know better
Well, I did ask the question about how / why this policy was introduced - but I don’t really expect to get an answer.
There has been a slight change to the protocol - it would seem that only the SPO has to action the e-signature, the rest of us can plod on using whatever methodology we have been using.
Notwithstanding that change, I still like to work on getting my MS account “sorted” in case I have to use other add-ons for personal admin…
