Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Today will be one of the most important in the Royal Air Force’s history as they are entrusted with the transport Her Majesty back to London from Edinburgh with the eyes of the world watching.

An awesome responsibility, I am sure all involved will do the nation and our late Queen proud.

I’m still toying with the idea of heading to the big smoke for the lying in state.

It’ll probably just be me. Toddler is too toddler-y to wait that length.
But I’m also in a state. Probably have to take a walking stick. No doubt the wait will be horrendous on me too. Just toying up if it’s worth it.

It may work better for you to watch the procession from Buckingham palace to Westminster hall.

You are able to pay your respects without the long queuing & standard one around all day.

Also gives an excuse for a day out if you are in need of one.

Don’t happen to know when that is?

I know if I don’t go, I’ll regret it. But if I do go, I’m certainly going to regret it…

From the I newspaper about the carriage procession

That’s when they’ve put my spinal review for.

Doubt I’ll get back in time. Balls.

Fingers crossed for NHS cock up then…

Haha. Private hospital, that won’t happen.

I’ll chat with the missus. See about heading down on my own. Get a room at the UJC maybe.

EDIT: as I’ve just been reminded… It’s our anniversary on Saturday… The stars are absolutely not aligning.

Just announced on BBC News that they are thinking 30 hour queues for the lying in state!

Surely that this point they should give a limited number of tickets via a lottery (obviously free of charge).

No time to arrange that.

They are doing coloured wristbands, so when you get to a certain point you get a wrist band, you can then leave the line of you need the loo or food etc. you then get fed back into the queue at that point.

Just flew past :disappointed_relieved:

Great effort by the QCS and the bearer party.
