One week after the funeral
It is from now until 7 days after HMQâs funeral.
So about 2-3 weeks in total Iâd imagine
My bad, misread the announcement.
The Boss, RIP.
Monarchist or not, like Boris or not, but he has written the most moving tribute (3 sections).
Got told off by her once - more directed at Philip - Royal Parade, & I was escorting him. He was in full flow with lots of Navy (very) unpolitical jokes!
Iâve had a cursory look in my handbook and couldnât see anything.
The website has this Royal Funerals but nothing else that I could see.
It does feel strange. I am sadder about her passing than I expected despite never meeting her. Today Iâve chosen to wear black as I felt internally it was the right thing to do, although should that really just be for family, close friends, employees etc.
I believe the broadcast from HM The King is at 1800hrs
Just reading that sentence makes me feel like itâs 1937.
Itâs not. We didnât have the internet in 1937. Or ACC.
I think it will take me a very long time to get used to hearing/reading âKingââŚ
There has been a (12 pageâŚ) document promulgated on defence connect in regards to OP London Bridge.
Flag etiquette, the fact that national anthems is now obviously referring to the King.
There are contact details in it so I wonât post it here. Itâs OFFICIAL (UNCLASSIFIED) however, so should be easy enough to find.
Its my bed time reading for tonightâŚrock and roll life style
The section stating that routinely flown flags should be flown at half-mast 24 hours a day (and that this over-rides single service flag protocols) would be pertinent to us. Iâve had a few sqns asking me already.
The debate would be whether âtwice a week for 2 hoursâ is considered to be âroutinely flownâ.
One would normally think of a station Ensign which goes up all working day, every day.
I would say it is as I think the principle is that no flag pole is left bear/empty.
Although there are other circumstances where a flag pole will intentionally be left empty (where complications around other nations flags exist). So that may not entirely hold.
Well it certainly got a bit dusty in my living room watching Charles address to the nation.
Likewise.
The wife and I watched as much as we could with a toddler tornadoing around. But the grief in his eyes is plain to see. I have immense respect for the man. Heâs lost his mother, someone he has made no secret over the years of being close to.
And now he can not mourn. He has no time to grieve, straight in front of cameras.
Very poignant speech.
My OC has said no on account of this
Same - it is my dear old Mumâs birthday today - so the wider family was gathered, but more somber than usual. We watched it together, there were a few of us in the room afflicted by dust - poor kiddies didnât know what to make of it.
We must make them dust better next time.
