Death of HM Queen Elizabeth II

Love that Prince of Wales is clearly wearing the SD cap he had when he was in. Fully battered and out of shape. As it should be.

Marvelous service. All those on parade would have done her proud. It’s got more than a bit dusty around this call sign.

Godspeed Ma’am, rest in peace. And thank you for everything.

God save the king.

Well said, dusty here as well.

Did anyone spot any cadet forces?

I didn’t notice any

Only 1, the patron riding in the car behind the king.

The civilian services group they would have been in according to the order of march seemed to have fallen back quite a bit from their place and looked if they arrived at the arch late considering they arrived just as the coffin was being moved by the bearer party. This seems to mean that their was never any chance to actually see them on tv.

I know someone who was there as a spectator, I’ll ask later.

Regarding the drill, I know everyone makes fun of the sea cadets on remembrance but the Royal Navy drill was absolutely spot on.

A friend who was on rooftop cover has said he did not see any members of CF there.

Just spoken to him. He said no.

That’s a sad thing.
But realistically, that was a long march. I am very surprised and have massive admiration for the King and his siblings for doing it. I means, he’s a sprightly 73 years old.

Can we expect cadets to do that? I know LL cadets etc are generally over 18. But the average age is much lower.

It’s a fair point, but just being around the procession would have been a good thing, route lining, manning first aid points, etc.

Lord Mayor’s show is longer and cadets do that, followed by remembrance the next day. (Top tip - don’t wear brand new shoes for Lord Mayor’s)

Unfortunately the event would have been too high profile & too critical to depend on use of volunteers especially when you then have minors.

Throw in the short notice & in short cadet forces weren’t invited & it’s telling they were grouped with the civilian organisations as well.

Coronation might be another matter but again it comes down to how the cadet forces are viewed by the high command & organisers.

If we’re not viewed highly or professional then we won’t be formally involved.

I’ve never done a lord mayor’s. I didn’t know that to be honest with you.

Another reason I guess is this is meticulously planned for. Can they really bank on volunteers and kids dropping everything for an event that is announced and carried out in less than a weeks notice? Unlike lord mayor’s and remembrance which have clear dates.

There is also the 0300 dess rehearsals…

What’s the point in doing these D&C camps if we’re not getting involved in ceremonial details?..

Erm so we look cool like the people on the tele and say “look we’re just like the regulars”. Fieldcraft has similar aspects

It’s kinda like our version of Huggies Pull-ups so we can go “look mum I’m a grown up now”.
