Given the royals have been wearing medals on their civvie jackets i wouldnt object.
I am far from that unfortunately.
Itās a church service organised by the council and garrison. So, it will probably be appropriate. Iām just pretty cut off where I am I guess and I donāt want to mess it up.
Nothing stopping you taking them off and pocketing them if you feel the spare part
Good idea. Thanks
Wear them - I wore my mine last week when going to church, as weāre several others. Itās a great way to show how The Queen touched our lives as they were a gift from her.
They were gifts from HM. Wearing them to a service of remembrance for her is a perfectly acceptable thing to do. Our town has a service this evening and weāve been asked to wear decorations and medals if attending.
Thank you everyone.
Makes me feel a bit better about this evening. Iām going to look a right state. Hobbling in.
But at least Iāve shaved a littleā¦ Made the beard a bit more presentable Iāll probably leave the beret at home. Seems a bit more veteran-y to do suit and hat
Had one of our CIs attend the church service today (in his capacity of veteran, not on RAFAC duty) in a smart suit, medals and beret of his former Army regiment.
Almost didnāt recognise him, and look very smart and respectable. Had a few there like that today.
Didnāt look out of place, and was very smart and respectful.
Went in suit, wore medals. Wasnāt out of place. Service was lovely. Not a God-botherer, but I can appreciate a nice service when there is one.
Forever grateful for Mrs Horriblelittletechie for being the one to chase a rather bored toddler. But not all bad, complimented by Archdeacon to the forces on the little one. Very well behaved.
I feel a lot better in myself to have done something in remembrance to Her Majesty.
GOC Aldershot Garrison was very underdressed howeverā¦ Everyone else was in No1s, he turned up in No2sā¦ But heās GOC. Does what he wants obviously.
I wonder if the Garrison RSM asked him āWhy are you under dressed this morning, been a little idle this morning have we Sir?ā
Spoken only in the way an RSM/SWO can do, with menacing sarcasm.
Probably did. Then the GOC probably tapped his Brigadierās tabs, ānot today ladā.
First time singing God Save the Kingā¦ That will certainly take some time getting used to.
I just want to say to all involved in delivering, securing, facilitating and supporting tommorows effort.
Good luck, best wishes and God speed.
I whole heartedly echo this today.
Do us all proud.
Spotted this on the Beebās coverage, explaining whoās who in the procession formation.
At the back; ācadet forcesā.
Any news on RAFAC involvement? Anybody āknow a guyā?
Ive heard a rumour that some CCFs from near London are marching as the RAFAC contingent although no idea how accurate the rumour is
One would expect the cadet ADC to the lord mayor of London. But time would tellā¦
I might have been a faff but would have been really nice if all the Lord Lt cdts could March as a contingent - would probably have been a logistics nightmare though.
LL Cdts doesnāt necessarily represent all cadet areas, though, I think?
Would be good for future planning (Coronationā¦?) if representatives from every Wing could take part, not just London ones.
Depends on the applications that year. Every area will have a Lord Lt & there should be at least one or two cadet forces. If you have every Lord Lt cadet on parade then you would cover the nation & give that representation of the cadet forces (although it may not be equal numbers between the individual services)
I noticed that the order of march is the reverse of what youād normally expect on a parade. So rather than the most senior service and regiments leading the parade, they are closer to the coffin. Makes sense, just one of the features of such a unique occasion.
