If an individual at 8AEF has (or is suspected of having) COVID-19, this should be stated. There should no “unclean, unclean, look at that leper” attitude - if someone catches, or is exposed to the virus, it is a simple fact, nothing more, nothing less. This situation has occurred already in my work environment (aviation, several companies) & the notification / follow-up information has been 100% open & transparent. No-one has batted an eyelid.
Similarly, if there is any other operational / aviation-medically linked reason, whatever, this should be stated.

I cannot see the reason for binning flying being in the slightest way injurious to the nation.[/quote]
As someone had already said confined cockpits, cadets wearing flying kit that someone else has worn (coveralls, helmets and gloves).
What about the other side of coin, a contagious cadet goes flying with a healthy pilot; healthy pilot goes on as a carrier, maybe an flying instructor in the RAF, screws up training in RAF.
Recently, 2 sqns local to mine have stood down. Their communications both on their social media and across the Wing spelt out that it was due to other students at the schools the majority of their cadets came from having flu symptoms.
No names were mentioned, no breaking of the official secrets act. Just grown up communication telling people what the deal was and why they closed. It’s not hard.
Just had an email through from our WgAvO saying all flying is suspended. Wonder how long that will last and the impact it will have for months or potentially years to come.
Not my company - but I would suspect that will undoubtedly change in the future - but very different emphasis, as share price & customer loyalty, etc, could suffer.
No share price for AEFs, but we are the customers(stakeholders), so I would hope for a far more open approach. There is absolutely no reason to hide the reason(s) away behind a statement that broadcasts that 8AEF see themselves safer than RAFAC policy.
I feel like 6FTS are doing their own thing. The COS emailed earlier today and said “Currently cadet activity in the UK is not affected but the situation is under constant review.”
Unless something has changed in the last 4 hours, it seems they can’t even communicate at the top level.
Quick edit, also just seen on Facebook (surprise there!) the same message; “Currently cadet activity in the UK is not affected but the situation is under constant review.”
I just got information from work from well above them as I left that I need to make sure where people are sitting beside each other (ie canteen break) that there is a 6’ separation!
20’ container 12 guys…hmmm
What is hoped for and what actually happens will sometimes be very different.
Perhaps any individuals involved decided they did not want any mention on a release?
Different organisations will make variations on decisions. I don’t have a problem with any organisation making a ‘safer’ decision than guidance that the broader organisation has issued.
They don’t need to mention any individual to still be open and honest with their customer base. They can be generic and still be more specific that they have been.
Assuming this was only sent to your region/wing as I’ve not seen anything. I don’t understand why these kind of emails can’t be sent to literally everyone at once?
