Competitive Age of Empires two is still running. It seems the players have been self-isolating for years?

Frankly I’d rather heed the advice of the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Scientific Adviser than some internet random.

We could only make a decision on the information we had. I highly doubt any of us are professional epidemiologists or virologists so are we really in a position to determine what the right or wrong course of action would be?

Cadets is/was a source of normality for a lot of cadets and staff in the increasingly unfamiliar situation we live in. As long as government advice said it was safe to do so I felt we had a duty to provide that normality.

I am glad the squadrons are closed now but I’m doing everything I can to continue to provide that normality in some shape or form over the internet.

Considering that McDonald’s is partially shut and they’ve just suspended the soap operas, I think we’re approaching that ‘last possible moment’ to call off schools.

I’d say that’s at least a week away. If you close Schools you a) compound the staffing problems in essential services, everyone from Doctors to the checkout woman at Tesco will have to stay off work to care for children. b) you endanger the vulnerable as many of them will he left with older Grandparents.

MRAR is of course right, but i point out the fact that the UK outbreak was not as a result of Cadet units remaining open.

closing last week, last month or dare I say next week will have had no impact on the outbreak.

Do we know if HQRAFAC has also been stood-down, along with the Cadet-facing/CFAV cohorts? Is Cranwell on hold?

On a related note: what about people who are mid-way on IOT etc? It’s obviously straightforward to postpone IOCs/SSICs etc, but the CV19 response will make a heck of a dent in regular/active reserves formal training programmes.

It’s not from me. It’s from far higher than me. considering all Regular and Resrve Training and Operations were knocked on the head over a week ago. With lads being pulled back to the U.K. from overseas. The information was there, has been there and keeps being reiterated.

Lots of people chose to be naive or blasé about it instead of heeding the advice. Seriously. You completely missed the point!

Well you missed the point aswell.

This isn’t from me. It’s from far above me.

please do re-enlighten us in that case by highlighting your point in a way I and MRAR can understand.

if it isn’t from you - and is also far above me - why were HQAC not listening and closing units “weeks ago”???

Considering I know at least one person who passed out from Halton this week I find it hard to believe you that all regular and reserve training has been binned…

I also know several people on IOT at Cranwell at the moment who are continuing as normal.

There’s numerous reasons, I don’t know why not ask them? It’s not just HQAC that’s mishandled this to be fair.

We are arguing a moot point anyway. Thankfully someone of sense has finally made the decision. Better late then never.

The main point people keep forgetting is, it’s not just a case of “oh the flu kills more” or any of that stupidity. It’s a case of slowing it down to stop the vulnerable (for example cadets with underlying medical conditions) and elderly from overloading the NHS. Not to mention the short and long term effects of this which we don’t understand.

Stop letting your ego get in the way. Your post has less to do with the concern for your cadets and more about trying to have a pop at me.
Do what you like, I don’t care. You want to go lick handrails and stock up on bogroll on you go.

Again. Failure of understanding the situation. Failure of managment and compete disregard for the duty of care they hold and for the governmental guidelines.

Disproves your point though doesn’t it?

There’s no need to be so vitriolic about it - none of us here are responsible for national policy making. If you want to vent write to your MP don’t berate members of the forum.

Quit it the lot of you!

No it doesn’t prove anything. It could be officers misinterpreting the facts, guidelines or More than likely the admin hasn’t filtered down yet.

It’s anecdotal anyway. I know blokes deployed getting brought back back to the U.K. I know several if not all Reserve units of all branches closing and people begin told not to turn too. I’ve seen the orders. I know several public services personnel self isolating. Considerations for retired public service staff to be drafted back in To take the strain.

It’s not the national guidelines I have a problem with. It’s the bad managment and ignoring of them. End of the day, it’s a moot point. As I said, thankfully someone’s finally had the good idea of doing it. Better late than never. The guidelines have been pretty consistent the whole way through. You were just ignoring the point and having a pop at moi.

The main point was, it’s not to be taken lightly. And we are heading for a lockdown so be prepared for that.

Great input. Well thought out.

Again. It’s not about knee jerking. It’s about being wary and taking the correct steps. You lot would be the first to complain if there was no guidelines given.

Feel free to ignore me and the guidelines, I don’t care.
