Also better to look smart in No 2s than scruffy in ill fitting no 1s
Preach!
I mean, you could argue our no2 uniform is the smartest of the other no2s (pcs or variants)
Careful RN & SCC use different numbering system to the RAF. Their no 2s are our No5s & our No2s are their No4s
And don’t get me started on Mess Dress vs Mess Undress vs Destroyer Rig…
As do the Army. No2 RAF is similar to their No13 and No14. Army No2 are equivalent to RAF No1.
So what you’re all saying is that the RAF needs to invest in some more fancy uniforms? Maybe RAFAC should be bringing this back for presentation events?
I’m ready to go!
I would love to see Full Dress used again, but we can’t even get access to what we allegedly currently have, let alone what we’d like to have…
To be fair, these things are probably the most valuable single piece of equipment owned by the cadet forces that can be carried by hand.
Good to be involved as an org, but for such a unique occasion I would have liked to have seen RAFAC put some effort in having the country’s cadets involved and not just the capital’s (if I’m interpreting that notice correctly).
Sorry but I don’t buy that, there will be plenty of events around the country in the following months and no one is going to be going out of their way to get London based Cadets involved.
In the same way that the Lincolnshire based units always get first dips on anything Bomber Command related and Kent based units bogart all of the Fighter Command events.
I see nothing wrong with the London based Cadets getting the majority of the spaces for a London based event.
Exactly. And frankly it just comes down to simple logistics. If there’s only about 50 cadets going to be involved it makes a lot more sense selecting that number from a smaller pool. And travel/accommodation wise it just makes sense to have cadets that live near-by. If we had cadets coming in from all over the UK there would be a massive increase in cost and risk. Plus having to sort out accommodation etc.
What will be good to see though is cadets up and down the country getting involved in their local Coronation festivities. Be that church services, parades, big lunches etc etc. Makes a lot more sense to be staying local with this one!
Ordinarily, yes. But I think we can agree that the coronation is A Big Deal™ and shouldn’t be lumped into the normal array of parades.
Would love to know how they selected the cadets. We’re in that region and the contingent got nothing. Assume it’s been done by way of the old friends network.
We get the same argument every Remembrance Day, every Lord Mayor’s parade and every time LaSER holds its ATC Sunday Parade at St Clement Danes.
There will be big events in Edinburgh in the coming weeks and months relating to the Coronation, I don’t expect HQAC to send Cadets from London up there. So why should the Cadets from London miss out on the London events so that they can ship Cadets in from elsewhere?
8 x CCF Cadets (Mix of Cdt / LCpl / Sgt / FS)
6 x Wales & West Region Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
8 x North Region Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
3 x SNI Region Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
9 x Central & East Region Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
6 x South West Region Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
8 x LaSER Cadets (Mix of FS / CWO)
Admittedly the Corps Banner Bearer + UK Standard Bearer are both London based.
And no No 1s?!
