On avaerage do any jobs come up within rafac at wing level in partical at C.I level. Ive seen many regional jobs but they all seem to be squadron leader level only.
what jobs are they? civvie c1 and 1ro
C1 is the MOD civil service grade.
1RO means first reporting officer i.e. usually someoneās immediate line manager
SW Region have recently recruited for SO2 Assurance and Training Support (advertised as Training Support Manager), the role is no longer online as the preferred candidate is going through vetting, however this is a Full Time Civil Service Job (C2 Grade).
Also in SW there are currently a number of Volunteer Region Staff Vacancies, advertised here these are commonly rank ranged up to Sqn Ldr, however there is nothing stopping a CI from being an SME. That said the expectation is that a Volunteer who wishes to be an SME either at Wing or Region would have already taken on increased responsibility by becoming a Uniformed Volunteer, and these āStaff Officerā posts are traditionally held by officers rather than SNCOs/WOs.
An interesting role I have found while writing this is for CCF SSI at Lord Wandsworth School, paying Ā£32k
Looks like thatās just for an SSI, not contingent commander! Reports to the contingent commander.
Whoops, my skim reading of the job pack!
LCpls are paid slightly more than that.
@AlexCorbin I think you should have a look at that, by the way they teach a Present Arms it looks like they need an ATC DI in thereā¦
If only i knew one (or 3) based in hampshireā¦
If you can look past that (figuratively and literally) youāll see they managed to bag a Chinook to sit in the back of shot for (presumably) their Biannual Review. Prehaps they should add that as an employee benefit to the SSI job listing if the cadets/staff got a flight
Still canāt pay appropriatelyā¦
Trainee Bus Drivers start on Ā£32k! Minimum requirements - Over 18, driving licence with max of 6 points(!!!). Full paid training, including cost of gaining C (PCV) licenceā¦ lots of overtime availableā¦ contracted hoursā¦
As a result, my lad aged 20, is now able to buy his first house (much to his parents shock and horror!) as he can now get a mortgage!
The UK minimum wage from April equates to a salary of over Ā£25k, based on a 40 hour week.
For any role that requires significant or specific experience, or a high degree of responsibility, to only be offering Ā£7k more than that - especially when such a role is at a private fee-paying institute, simply isnāt good enough. To be offering that salary in London and the South East is outright insulting, given the increased cost of living there.
The school is actually in Hampshire - but still an absurdly low amount to be offering IMO, given the amount of responsibility and time involved - both within work hours and beyond.
Am I right in thinking CCF SSIs get 51 paid training days too, at about Ā£90 a day on top of their salary? Or am I misremembering something. So it may well be Ā£32k + Ā£4.5k?
They do but the SSI rate is fixed at Ā£35 per day regardless of rank.
If they do become a CFAV they can then claim VA at rank up to the CFAV max but each contingent has a finite VA budget.
Thatās a lot lower than I thought! But then it is on top of salary, so isnāt meant to actually form part of the pay. Interesting nevertheless.
It can be used as part of the salary iirc. Or at least used to be
