The loss of VA is making that a more common move, and some people are now in discussion with their schools about responsibility allowances…
I’d be fascinated to find out what salary they agree for running a contingent of 45 cadets once per week, plus 2 x field days. I’m guessing at least equivalent of unqualified teacher (£20k) pro rata?
5 hours per week during term time, plus field days at 11.5 hours each. About £2000 per year?
I was certainly putting in significantly more than 5 hours a week when doing a section commander role and that was pure volunteer work
An interesting sounding role, that as a non CCF person, I hadn’t heard of before. C2 grade so actually paid a reasonable amount. (compared to some of the jobs I’ve seen in this thread!)
It’s what used to be ‘School Cadet Expansion Officer’ but with CEP now ‘complete’ it’s more about managing those CCFs and indeed existing ones. Ours is a former OC Cadet Training Team, former regular officer, and bundle of energy - mostly in a good way.
Sea cadets advertising for a growth & development officer to help recruit new volunteers
And cadets. In fact the pack seems to point more towards cadets. Arguably you need to grow CFAV to grown cadets too though!
An interesting looking role. If it paid more I’d be almost interested. Mostly WFH too.
They might have pivoted but part of the role is running workshops at unit level to recruit cadets, volunteers & Civcom.
Oh & if you have t done it recently part of the job involves attending a local sea cadet unit on parade nights for three months to understand the organisation.
That’s awesome. Make sure your paid staff appreciate and understand what they are working for. I like it.
Also, there is this role:
It is made to me that they have paid staff doing all of this sort of stuff in the background. It is no wonder how they manage to seemingly get so much more stuff done with better staff morale. A lot of teh tedious stuff is being done by paid staff.
Role open at CTT Frimley:
48 hours per week is a bit naff for that salary, given most people in the UK are only doing 37.5 or so.
Bloody hell. I thought it was low as is, missed that or was 45h/week
Only works out at £14/h.
48 hours.
So assuming it’s standardised as a salary across the year with 52 weeks, it comes out even worse; a gross income of £13.26 per hour.
Take home, assuming a student loan payment on Plan 2, would work out at £2,237 per month. Which based on my previous UK outgoings simply wouldn’t be doable - and I lived in a cheap part of the country.
Does seem a tad low
I thought it was going to have something about topping it up with VA, like SSI job adverts, but there’s no mention of anything like that.
HQ Sea Cadet advertising for admin staff.
So is that based in office? No mention of remote. £25k isn’t much for a job in central London
Minimum wage, how generous
I think I saw hybrid in the advert.
And this is how much industry /sector values those who look after volunteers - perhaps we need to get them a wage bump?
