I’ve mentioned the jumper issue too, bin off the requirement for a tie all the time.

Infact I said bin off the whole Blue uniform as working dress, put everyone in PCS. Cheaper, means the cadets don’t have to buy another uniform on top of their issue kit and generally harder wearing.

Please no, we’ll look like a plastic navy if you mean blue PCS or the ACF if you mean MTP.

Hi folks, don’t forget we had a really prominent thread on this forum about the lack of pockets in skirts for our female cadets.

With this form (thank you VSDT team) we have a top chance to highlight this issue in numbers onto a uniform review that might last another 30 years, it’s high time our female cadets were able to hold their own 3822 and phone for emergencies :+1:

Could just get rid of the skirt? That’d solve the problem.

Why would you opt to remove an option? Personally I’d rather give it to my cadets to choose whichever is more comfortable for them.

All I’m asking is to improve the skirt to be more functional in parity with slacks, something I’m sure female regulars would appreciate too.

Technically, at times it’s not an option, which opens a whole can of worms. One uniform is cheaper and supports diversity; the Sea/RM Cadets do it well. Sadly (as a male) I can’t wear a skirt, no matter how much more comfortable it could be!

Bin skirts and have a totally unisex uniform, solves so many issues before they even begin.

And bin the jumper: pointless

And a straight no to wearing pcs full time, it’s horrid!

The Scouts also do it. Shorts or Trousers for all

Oh a few Scout leaders round my way wear the official skirt. Some female Scouts wear a smart school type skirt for events like Remembrance, it depends on the unit.

Suspect PCS is what we’ll end up with. If so hopefully we’ll be able to get it from the system even if it’s private purchase.

In fact why can’t staff buy their MTP from stores? Would make life a lot easier!

How is it pointless? I wear mine all the time, my squadron office is Baltic in the winter, and I refuse to sit in a GPJ.

Because that is far and away the simplest way of guaranteeing pockets for all…

I didn’t understand the idea of a lightweight jumper. If I wear a jumper it’s because I’m cold, so I want it thick enough to keep me warm.

Looks like we’re complete opposites! I never wear mine.
It’s badly put together and uncomfortable. And the office is always baking, the heating system is shot.

Finally, some sense!

I only wear mine when I’m late in from work and haven’t had chance to iron my shirt.:roll_eyes:

Bin jumpers, issue a fleece for those who are cold, also burn all of the ties!

[Unpopular Opinion] I actually don’t mind wearing a tie. Or a jumper (if it’s shaped properly).

I think the biggest issue with the jersey it less to do with the garment itself and more to do with people who unnecessarily insist that it must be worn for certain events. Outside of formal occasions when I want everyone dressed similarly I couldn’t care less if someone is wearing a jersey and tie or a short sleeved shirt. I’ll probably be in the short sleeved shirt.

A lightweight jersey option might be nice for those occasions when one is required but it’s not 0° (because otherwise I boil in the damned things), but then requiring the things to be worn less often might be sufficient.

I’d also worry that a lightweight jersey would have no ‘body’ to it and would look like small-scale maternity wear.
