Astra Clothing Programme

I don’t mind the tie, with LSS it looks fine. If you don’t want to wear a tie, wear SSS

And bin the jumpers! Have a decent over jacket. GPJ is fine, but not very military

Not all of us live in the northern wastelands!

Neither does he?

Well for those of us who do live in Northern wastelands, ahem God’s own county, anyway, a decent jumper is absolutely necessary in the winter. Not all of us have the luxury of living in a city with a squadron that you can get to when it’s snowy or icy or whatever. And it’s flipping cold any time past September.

I think this thread is demonstrating pretty well why this survey won’t help much!

why?
probably because that requires a system for payment - and more skills from a storeman in counting up the pennies - the running joke it they struggle counting stock doesn’t bode well they’ll do well counting up pounds and pence!
(plus it would be open to abuse - people who can, would pay for more than they would need and the storeman would sell it as it looks good, meaning those entitled to the free issue would be left without)

I’ve never had a problem buying additional items from stores when I’ve needed.

(Other than the fact that none of them handle cash any more. So one either needs to dig out that old cheque book and dust the cobwebs off, or plan to make a trip to stores - on to cashier - back to stores.)

Hoping the RAF are looking into something like this under Astra too.

More details here.

I’ve been saying for a while we should move to an online shop for our uniform

Like a direct shop specifically for cadets? I think someone’s already making a pretty penny from that idea…

Public sector innit. If he was a civil servant he’d just get a pat on the back.

And his boss would get an OBE. (Not that I’m still bitter or anything)

Both direct to cadets and CFAV, but also for Sqn’s/Wings/Regions to have accounts with and be able to purchase at discounted rates.

Sell 3a approved polo design, plus all uniform items and badges, at cost + small markup (or subsidy) for sqn/wing/regions and cost + larger markup for private purchase.

Yes!!

If we are required to have items they should be at cost, so including the overhead of running the service but no more. Otherwise we’d end up paying though the nose.

Of course the stores infrastructure is there so it’s just a front end - there are plenty of odd tje shelf e commerce options some are free for the basic tiers.

yes but all of that “profit” is fed back into the organisation - there are running costs involved that HQAC can’t always subsidise so the money has to come from somewhere.
