Horseshoe theory was pretty standard when I was studying international relations theory, and that was 30 years ago.

Neither did the Soviet Union, actually socialism in the USSR was injured by Lenin and killed by Stalin, it played lip service to Socialism, but it didn’t actually practice, much as the current democracy in Russia doesn’t practice democracy.

It’s no secret that Mr Emz is in the RAF and we live in RAF MQ.
The house opposite us is empty, but I’m pretty confident we’ll have new neighbours if not this week then next, so far this week we’ve had:
Monday: garden team - garden mowed and weeds strimmed, with strimmed weeds blown into the garden with a leaf blower AFTER they mowed
Monday: cleaners were in
Tuesday: new flooring put down
Tuesday: cleaners back to redo cleaning after old flooring ripped up and new flooring back down
Wednesday: painters are in
And we wonder why people are frustrated with the state of MQs and the money wasted, there is no logical sense to the work done on the house this week but it has made me chuckle at the craziness of someone’s planning 
Painters AFTER new floor? Eh?
Ah but the more hours the contractors do, the more money they can claim from the public purse!
I suspect the garden team will be back later today (or this week) to clear the weeds properly.

You were already burdened with knowledge of the true scale of the chaos.
Fairly standard. We didn’t have a new kitchen floor (new modern house standards have come in since we last moved where you get white walls and wooden flooring now) but the painters didn’t bother covering it or the worktops before slapping paint on the walls (giving the amount of paint on the ceiling & the cupboards, I wouldn’t call it painting). I noted it on the 14-day report that there were paint flecks on both, the housing officer came round and was like, no, that’s part of the pattern on the floor, she soon changed her tune when I was picking the pattern on the floor off with my nail. I’d already done the worktops.
I’ve marched in and out of too many MQs for them to even try and fob me off
