MML. And related to yesterday’s events in London; Celebrity SAS man, tax dodger and “banned as a company director” Ant Middleton has thrown his hat in the ring for London Mayor in 2028.
Didn’t he already do that for Reform and then they changed their mind?
Easy way to lose a deposit it seems.
Hopefully bin face does better!
“Humility” really isn’t a word in his dictionary, is it?
Yesterday at dinner we were talking with my eldest about the internet, how it can be good and bad, about how we didn’t have the internet when we were her age and generally about the technology we had.
Without skipping a beat she said “oh yeah! I know all about that, we have been learning about the olden days at school!”.
Absolutely murdered by words.
Unfortunately for our generation, she’s not wrong
I’m in my late 30s now, and I’m probably the one of the youngest people you’ll meet who can remember the olden times of not having the internet or even a computer at home in childhood.
Mid and it wasn’t until secondary school that we had a pc at home.
Same, knocking on the door of 40 now.
We were telling her that when we first had the internet, it was on the Tesco Computers for Schools PC that lived in the school library. No smartphones - she was aghast.
Man, I miss the 90’s more and more every day.
I remember playing with this fantastic graphics programme in school…
As well as updating the home computer from Win 95 to 98 when that came out, and having to reinstall AOL via CD ROM so we could get the modem to work again.
One of my first jobs, there was a PC squeezed into a corner of the office, which no one used (except the new grad - me). But every desk had an ash tray!
I so wanted a Bigtrak!! My intro to coding was my Dragon 32.
Reminds me of one of my favourite episodes of Bluey, where Bandit is explaining the concept of “Jinx” to his daughters.
MML my grandson has just told me of an essay he has been set. “Nationalism is considered a far-right ideology, does Russia’s bid to regain its Communist Soviet era dominance mean it should be considered an alternative to Liberalism. Discuss”
I guess his lecturer is hinting the extreme Left & Right are now closer to each other than the middle ground.
Could be a short essay. Putin’s kleptocracy has nothing in common with communism or any left wing principles
You missed a key word off the end of that quote: “dominance”. It’s not suggesting they’re trying to go back to communism, but that they’re trying to dominate their neighbours, USSR style.
