MML - Seeing lots of ‘people looking sad staring at the sky’ photos on the news, as Gatwick get’s backing from the Gov for a second runway.
So many people complaining about the noise. People who purchased a house near Gatwick and/or on the flight path. Why would you buy a house at the end of the runway if you’re fragile when it comes to noise?
It’s one of those things, I live not a million miles from Stanstead, I wouldn’t buy much closer for just that reason. Gatwick and Heathrow were always going to get more capacity it was a when not an if.
The answer is probably changes to Arrival and Departure routes. Our resident pilots will know about these.
These rarely change for an airport, so if you live away from one, you probably get very little traffic overhead. Adding a new runway into the mix will lead to changes in arrivals and departures, which could mean that people who rarely heard an aircraft now getting one every few minutes.
@OC.1324 is spot on though. The huge increase in emissions is the biggest impact
My thoughts exactly. I love that the tip of the bullet (and I mean bullet not round in this case!) has clearly been impacted too, so someone tried to shoot this.
I did enjoy one of the comments. “Just get a pin hammer and tap it out from the other end!”
