You know what really makes me laugh?

There’s more coming with the new EDI training and ACP that was released today…so we won’t have time for any extra qualifications anyway

MML - after a recent speil about chip hats… I’ve brought a chip hat.

Done a little deep dig on it. Because you know, off sick.
Done by station tailors at RAF Kai Tak. The tailors in question shut down in 2003 after opening in 1973. The camp was open ~20s to about '78.
So the hat in question is from between '73-78. Not bad for a £14.99 eBay impulse buy…

Damn me having an awkward size head and needing to have easy returns just in case. Including delivery, my new one was over £40 from Cadet Direct.

I didn’t even think about getting mine second hand, but I quite like the fact they’ll have had a story.

Oh, I’m not sure if it’ll fit
About 22in inner circumference, so about a 56/57 beret size. I usually wear a 58.

Looks like I’ll look ally (which saves lives) with a jaunty hat. Perfect.

Now to be really Ally, you need a 58 pattern web belt.

Is it old enough to still have the hooks and eyes for winter mode?

This is genuinely a design feature.

I had been tempted to unpick the stitching on mine so I could wear it like that when a certain RWO popped down to help out with drill.

Don’t think so. It’s a Hong Kong locally made by the look of it.

It has evidence of that stiching in the eBay photos. I’ll have a proper look when it arrives.

Bare in mind, evidence points that this hat is 20 years older than I am…

MML …locals kicking right off that the New Forest is a designated low flying zone for exercise lobster pot…loving the Wokka Wokkas at 500ft in the early hours of the morning.

Good job they didn’t live there during WW2 then! We used to DofE round Ashley Walk to walk along the bombing runs.

Love that area and the walk to the submarine pen. I share your laughter and hope you’ve been enjoying the disturbance!

Brought a game off Amazon for the original Xbox that I used to own when I was younger.

The lad has had swimming today. And only just gone up for a sleep.

I’ve finished a game I couldn’t finish when I was younger in… Less than 4hours of game play…

Enjoyed every minute though.
