I’ve heard the Mutual Aid going on is massive. Even seen some PSNI guys in London…
On the night she died I had started at 1400, wasn’t relieved until 0900.
It’s actually eased up a lot, there are loads of Cops on Mutual Aid now doing lots of the event stuff. But we are still all on mandatory 12 hour days.

I don’t normally get that stressed by it. But many people in here are Ex-Serving or still do. Today is a day where many of us are saying farewell to the sovereign we swore life and loyalty to.
My own parents are not monarchists and my dad is especially vocal about it. Any other day but today, views like that do not phase me, or many people who owe the family their allegiance.
But today, today is very different.

I live on a building site and any other Bank Hol they down tools… today though they decided to run a bulldozer up and down outside from 8am. Come 11am I was outside giving them a talking to.
They were anti-monarchists - I reminded them that they are welcome to their opinion but that respect cuts both ways. Thankfully they backed down and gave us peace until 1300.

Not too sure if this GMG or MML but the answer on VoP about CFAV wanting additional qualifications “not being popular”
I think the takeaway there is ‘on top of mandatory training’ makes it unpopular.
Now if they could work out a way to have some of the mandatory training count towards additional qualifications you might see a bigger uptake.
Though I have no idea how you’d do that or whether the qualification it could lead to would be useful. I could imagine though that risk assessment and the H&S stuff could be tied into an H&S qual if tweaked. Then those for whom it would be useful in daily life could upgrade to the full thing
