You know what really makes me happy?

Submitted my first SCC expenses claim today. My initial allowance to obtain No.1s. I have an allowance of up to £270.

I purchased some Ones in eBay, and the lacing, and have a tailor reranking the jacket and expanding the trousers. All came to 180 or so.

Claim submitted this morning, online portal, upload the receipts etc, resubmitted at 1110am, because I forgot the email confirming my entitlement, after the portal sent me a reminder.

Approved at 1210.

They have a nasty habit of making everything so much easier than we do…

Out of curiosity is the claim through Westminster or a different system?

We can only dream of such an efficient system! We’re lucky to have a claim back within a few months.

I am in one of the Wgs Beta Testing the digital VA claims on Bader and so far it’s fantastic. Claims authorised for payment on JPA in less than 48 hrs!

That’s impressive; only 47 hours slower than the SCC system!

That gets it to JPA. You still then need to wait for a JPA pay day. So may then take anouther few weeks!

But it’s progress nevertheless! And he only says it’s approved, it’s still needs to go on JPA which is a manual process for all the cadet forces I understand.

Unifi…?

I did another claim at the same time, but I think that one might need volunteer approval, so I’m not expecting it to be so quick. It’s also for a course I did in May, but forgot about.

HDT is paid with salary / VA on pay day, but out of pocket expenses (including MMA) should be paid as soon as they’re authorised.

It was approved this morning.

MMH: My parents have clearly and most definitely got the parkrun bug. They’re away on a holiday at present and have just completed their first ever bit of parkrun tourism!

I’m looking forward to doing the same in a week’s time, being the first possible time in 14 months.

Were you walking across…?

MMH - Had a really productive afternoon working with a local landowner to improve one of their footpaths. They were very keen to make it better, so we’ve got some money together and a small voluntary group. Which for me meant hours of trimming this afternoon in the sunshine!

Extremely satisfying work, looking back up the path and seeing it clear. Tomorrow the mini excavator work starts so we can ditch and backfill!

A UK F-35B Lightning jet has landed on a Japanese vessel for the first time…

Where it promptly broke and got stranded. Again.

At least it didn’t go over the side

That was an experiment in sub surface warfare though.

It hasn’t gone over the side, yet…
