Pre-ordered a book from Waterstones 3 months in advance of the publication date.

It’s been a week since the publication date and the order is still pending.

Emailed customer service and they say the distributor hasn’t sent them a copy as ā€œfor niche titles the distributor sends a copy when someone makes an orderā€.

I made an order… 3 months ago…

Well, it’s certainly niche

I’ve seen FLT SGT on a MOD 90.

No idea how that happened, as rank is selected from a drop-down list.

Oh for sure! Was awkward when the cashier at Waterstones asked for the author and title to type into their till.

North Korea is my mastermind topic. Got a small collection of a couple medals and WPK membership booklet brass case. Needless to say not awarded to me though, that would be an MI6 watchlist referral. :joy:

I was once given some interesting tourist photos from a NK tour. I wonder whether I still have them!

But also one that has been historically been used by the RAF as an abbreviation for Pilot Officer (although not as common as P/O which was in use well into the 90’s.

But it’s not the abbreviation.

Maybe we need to teach Defence Writing on AVIP or CIC? I see all sorts of DW non-compliance, such as writing ranks and abbreviations like sqn in block caps.

Have it as an E-learning package

There used to be one, but now it’s just a PDF and some templates.

That and actually giving us a copy of the relevant JSP for the DWG instead of assuming CFAV without MODNET accounts will find it on a random FOI from years ago or find whatever doc in the catacombs of RAFAC policy happens to incorporate it.

Speaking of, assuming it’s not a sensitive document, is there any chance one of the people here with a recent copy could share it if I provided my BADER email?

I’ve never noticed before that it isn’t one of the JSPs in the Key Documents on SharePoint.

PM me with your Bader address and I’ll ping it over next time I’m on MODNET.

I wonder who the right person would be to request it’s inclusion?

I’d say VoP, but probably won’t get an answer now…

I believe it’s even in ACP050 that we’ve got to make sure we follow it, so there’s a very clear case for us being (at least in theory) meant to access it

Tagging @Ben_Wakefield on here seems to be more effective than VoV these days.

Sir, what would be the correct approach to requesting the addition of JSP 101 to RAFAC Key Documents?

It’ll be on Jive on defence gateway which RAFAC CFAV do have access to! But a bit of a faff.

Admittedly I don’t know DG because I signed up once out of curiosity and promptly realised it was useless to me…

…however having a look I don’t have an app called Jive in the available library, presumably by virtue of being non-uniform?

I do have a whole load of random Army bits and bobs though…

Is there a definitive document for this sort of thing? It was used interchangeably even in RAF documents at one point.
