You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Most IT projects fail (to a greater or lesser extent). Keeps me in work though!

Luckily I happened to be on a video call with my mum as the postman arrived, so I got to see her opening the personalised card that I sent.

Says something that WhatsApp is a better way of tracking post than Royal Mail…

Ah. But do you really want to cancel? Are you sure - they have such a good deal that they can offer just for you?

I’ve been running with the new supplier for 2 months, just waiting to get to the end of my 18 months.

Fibre was installed on our street last week. Half way down. They stopped when they got to the ā€˜smaller’ houses. According to the street gang drawing the cables it will be hooked up to the newer build flats and the ā€˜bigger’ houses opposite them.

Completed my Range Recce today for next months Short Range shoot (not a gear)

58 mile round trip = £14.50 organisational cost
10 mins on site… looks like the same barrack range I used 5 years ago
Partial day of annual leave used.

Value add = NIL

IF I had used within the past 12 months I would have only done a recce via phone to tell the warden I want 2 x Fig 11s per lane… barrack only allows Fig 11s now.

Why do we do this to ourselves?

EDIT: Range was in use with a late bid, so recce completed from outside the fence!

There is a puddle though, that may or may not be there in a month :man_facepalming:

Bang it on value our volunteers. It’s garbage like this that kills motivation and is just not common sense.

It’s an Army policy within CTR so not within the remit of our leaders to change.

@bob / @dazizian are the most likely to be able to effect change here at a HQ level.

I know full well where it comes from but keeping quiet about the stupidity is definitely not going to change anything!

Are cadets allowed to shoot at fig. 11s again, or do you still have to paste the legs of one over the upper body of another to create a weird four legged target (without the traditional aiming marker of the soldier’s wrist)?

That’s never been a thing, but if available double Legs 11 should be used.

Would be daft considering the wider implementation of blank firing now…

ā€œNo, you can’t shoot real ammo at a fake person, but you can shoot fake ammo at a real person.ā€

Nah it’s got to be old school cadet blank firing where you have to aim 45 degrees into the air…
