You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Putting down popup tents. I’ll never get that time back. And I’m still not convinced it’s right.

A room in university halls costing more than the mortgage on a 3 bedroom house 🤷

But… does your 3 bedroom house include awful wifi, a damp bedroom, being literally caged in, cold showers, and paper thin walls so you can hear your two flatmates exercising at midnight?

Or 2am fire alarms because a stoner ran out of biscuits and decided to cook frozen pizza in a toaster?

If you think thats bad try the billet I had on my first tour in the RAF in the 1970s.How about 4 men in a room which officially was only meant to have two in it. Three amp wiring so you couldnt even boil a kettle without tripping the circuit out. Showers and toilets that were dropping to bits with damp and mould everywhere and mice in the waste bins.

ahh but were you paying more than the monthly mortgage repayments for the pleasure??

Not really GMG but making me a little sad informing the kids squadron I have cancelled the direct debit as miss crazy is going away to uni and crazy jr has decided he definitely doesn’t want to return

You were lucky.

I would have loved 4-man rooms with damp showers.

My first billet was a shoebox in’t middle of road. 6 of us in there and reet cosy it was too. The toilet was a plastic bag that was passed around and when full, emptied on’t road. Breakfast was a handful of cold gravel and the SWO used to beat us with a broken bottle.

(with a tip of the hat to Monty Python).

Social distancing on vehicles in Scotland. Sharing rooms is fine. But sharing vehicles is not; driving there in the first place is a royal ballache, or so it’s turning out to be.

Luxury !

The utterly botched withdrawal from Afghanistan meaning we’re now in basically the same situation as when we went in. What did all those people die for?

Nah, it’s actually way worse. Because we gave a whole generation of young people, mainly women, a set of freedoms that will now be removed, likely violently, from them.

Many will flee, try to get here, the nice place that gave them those freedoms, and the idiots here will wonder why they didn’t claim asylum in the first country they came to.
