You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

Grinding my gears: stumbling across an old Parliamentary statement regarding the state of RAFAC flying and gliding and thinking “wow; look how far we’ve come”. Not.

Discovering that when a certain person decided to use their hair dryer in the kitchen last night they unplugged the freezer and didn’t plug it back in. Apparently it’s now my fault the whole contents need chucking because I didn’t tell her it was the freezer and/or plug it back in.

Surely IC Kitchen needs to have a word with themselves… Poor admin

Ggm… Junior/entry level roles that require 2 to 3 years experience in the field… What the hell

I’m sorry, they look like they could at least have 16 years experience by 22.

Slackers.

The experience thing is a red herring.

Employ those with the right attitude, give the training, get a better result.

Applying a year requirement should not be used as it can potentially be discriminating against those who have had to take time off for family/caring responsibilities. It also is hard to quantify as a year could be spent very differently. I could do the thing every day, once a week, once a month etc.

Good luck with your application if you are applying, unless that was a general gripe.

I was just looking, passed my APMQ Certification in Nov and all jobs need experience, so it’s super difficult to even get your foot in the door… . Its gash

Congratulations on achieving the qualification though that’s great.

That’s rubbish though re. jobs and I certainly remember that pain. Fingers crossed something suitable will come up

Congrats on the certification, Do they specify post certification experience?

Do you have demonstrable experience from whilst working towards the award?

I regularly get contact from recruiters where the person spec is a masters, they really make me laugh some times. Had a change of job title recently and looked at the person spec for my role, they list a PhD  don’t even have a bachelors yet they still listen and take what I say seriously.

If its what you want, and you are prepared to deal with the potential rejections, apply and give it a go!

I guess the markets saturated at the moment so companies can be fussy. The problem is I want to get Into aerospace/defence so they prefer experience given the nature of their output

Shipment delayed in transit Recovery actions underway

I work in transport, I know that the statement above is a pure lie. Why not just tell me you are incompetent and you aren’t delivering it today.

:vangry:

Oh, the corporate excuse. Same for DHL - “package out for delivery” (from Germany the day before). Later in day, “Ah, it didn’t make the local courier.”

So, it was fogged out last night XXXX & also in YYYY. No DHL flights took off or landed… Please run through your excuse again VERY CAREFULLY & tell me why I waited in all day for a package that couldn’t be delivered. Oh, my daily rate is ££££ - pay up!

You can claim compensation (£30 I think) from some energy / broadband providers if they don’t make the appointment. Needs to be the same for scheduled deliveries (for no good reason).

My first experience of putting up coving… Never again

Polystyrene or plaster?

Either is a pain. Even worse trying to clean off old stuff.

Polystyrene… Didnt want to spend a fortune on something that was more than likely going to turn into a car crash.

Outcome wasnt bad though

I had a load of my plaster coving fall down, damage the walls and just cause chaos… I got so fed up with it I ended up just nailing the stuff up…

Slowly getting round to sorting it out, so I feel your pain!!

I’ve put pin nails in along side it to hold it in place as the adhesive dries
