You know what really grinds my gears? The Gears Strike Back

I’m just out here waiting for the Eisenhorn TV show because I don’t like any science in my sci-fi.

I have the town car to do tomorrow with brakes all round in addition to the service. Finding it quite therapeutic getting my hands dirty and being away from screens for a few days

£75 excess to pay on a windscreen repair… a lovely big stone flicked up on the way to work… and… crack!

Was that chip repair or full replacement? I paid £85 for a full replacement on a heated windscreen.

Or do you just have really bad insurance?

Full replacement on a standard (non heated) screen.

Tiny stone = an 8 inch crack (there’s a joke in there somewhere!)

Ah, was wondering as that would been high for just a repair!

£75 - £85 = used to be fairly standard excess for windscreen replacement - had one each last year or so on both my car & the wife’s; hers = heated, mine = HUD area.

However, looks like my insurer (Admiral) has pushed it up to £115!! :open_mouth: Same for Aviva. Direct Line say £75; LV = £95

One of my USA relatives paid about £500 for a full replacement last year - seemingly no such thing (or limited number of companies who offer this?) for windscreen insurance (paying excess only) .

Pretty sure we’ve all seen examples of how little insurance is actually worth in the US.

I imagine that even if windscreen cover was in a policy, there would be an exclusion for “driving on a road containing stones and debris” or “driving in the vicinity of other vehicles”.

Having a windscreen is a pre-existing condition…

GMG was how long it took last time I needed a rear windscreen done. 2 months. Due to delays importing them from Belgium… God knows how long it would take now!!!

Tesco are reporting delays of products from Europe of up to 6 weeks… So there’s a rough guide.
