BUT it is great for the Kids (the reason we exist) and if £2k gets them some gucci kit then let them!. Its no different than the Local council buying a new carpet for the CEO 'cos he or she doesn’t like the colour.[/quote]
1/10 Made me reply.
I fear you have missed the point.
Shooting is a practical skill. It’s a good hands on skill. It build confidence and when done correctly cadets can see their skill improve.
I wouldn’t be as good a shot now if it wasn’t the basic building blocks laid down within cadets and then built on.
Flying is also a good practical experience with cadets able to build up skills to eventually fly solo. A massive achievement.
The above is just 2 examples of many core aspects of the ACO of which is to encourage a spirit of adventure in the youth.
Money should have been spent on better practical aspects rather than aesthetics so people feel “Gucci”
With your way of thinking, why not just get rid of cadets? They will all just grow up anyway?
And a council CEO using public money to change a carpet because he doesn’t like the colour is bang out of order.
I am happy to continue this debate via PM. I wanted my opinion voiced, and it has. Any questions and/or comebacks, feel free to PM me.
Something you continually bang on about. Have all on here ‘missed the point’ do you think? Or is there just one person ‘out of step’?
So, you appear to be an ex-cadet from either the ACF or ATC who has moved on to the regulars? We’ve seen a lot of ex-cadets over the years join the forces and then come back on here giving it large.
You’re right on that point.
Lol. We all know that…
So you keep saying but I notice that you always come back for more quoting that 1\10 or whatever, is making you reply!
Look Scrinson, just what do you hope to achieve by coming here and whining about kids wearing MTP? Do you seriously think that by trying to persuade the Cadet Forces not to buy MTP, it’s going to result in the MOD buying back all the stuff THEY authorised for sale to surplus outlets and issue it to regulars instead?
I say again - if the ACO want to spend their money on this sort of kit then neither you, me or the entire MOD is going to stop them. Get your head round it and live with it.
I wanted to voice my opinion on the matter and did so.
My main point was that the ACO and MOD missed a trick.
And if your going to purchase your non issue clothing, why not DPM, it’s a fraction of the price.
It’s by no means a “giving it large” session. I haven’t got anything to prove to anyone. And with regards to PCS, I hate the stuff. I would much rather DPM or indeed much better other options.
And with the idea of rejoining the organisation thought I would poke my head in here to see if things had at all changed.
This topic is a hot one and brings a lot of attention.
It’s a lot of money. And getting back to the topic, I feel it could have been better spent.
And if your that bothered about my offer to PM, why didn’t you word this in a PM?
If there’s mods watching, might be worth locking the topic, as it seems to be a never ending circle. With neither side wanting to back down.
Wash your ears out - DPM will become more and more difficult to obtain as it is no longer produced, that which is in circulation aren’t the right sizes for smaller kids and who, in their right minds, would pay good money for obsolete stock when there’s new kit to be had? It’s a bit like buying your favourite team’s football strip from 10 years ago rather than the new one. It makes no sense whatsoever.
Then go and source some, stick it in your locker and use it if\when the opportunity arises. As you’ve said before, there’s tons of the stuff floating about. Knock yourself out.
It’s not so much a hot topic within the ACO anymore. Clearly it is to some regulars though…
How would you feel about being told what to do with the money YOU have earned?
'Cos its much more fun seeing your reaction on here.
Someone’s got a lot of time on his hands. Shouldn’t you be out looking for Johnny Taliban or something?
I bet the half a kayak comes in useful though…
Anyway, where would they put 100 ‘grided’ (whatever that means) whiteboards? Who would use 400 model kits or 290 nyrex folders? The ATC isn’t a ‘last line of defence’, the Hitler Youth or a miniature Air Force, y’know.
I hope the next round of fundraising gives them enough cash to buy 50 UBACS and a slack handful of osprey armour.
Well, I can’t be bothered to read through all the posts. But feel the need to add my two pennies worth…
If they raised the money and that what they wanted, then fair play… I’m sure there are some more essential items that the money could have been spent on, but I guess that’s for them to decide.
BUT!!! They should have done some research, the MTP Mk3 is due to be released soon which is a different color and style and will make the Mk2 redundant! Ooooops!

No it won’t. It will be the same as having cadets in DPM 94 Pattern smocks and some in 95s. It won’t be redundant, it just won’t be current issue.
I don’t know where you are getting your information, but at last check the “Mk3 MTP”/“Mk2 PCS” is exactly the same pattern as the original but with minor style adjustments. The lower arm pockets have been removed, there is less velcro on the blanking plates and the chest pockets have reduced in size.
It is actually released already, but there is so much of the old stock in the system that it will be a while before it filters down.

No doubt the REMFs, Officers and cadets will get it before the lads that need it…
