Huge PR event for PooTin - he’s will capitalise on this (such as sharing the One’s limo).
Lots if political analysts are saying this could be a crucial blow to donald trumps credibility (if he has any) and perception from Americans that could rock mid terms.
- Putin got an invite to US soil to meet trump. He didnt demand it etc. He will PR that as a power move over the US
2)The reception was like friends meeting and allowing putin to use resources, such as being able to use the limo. Apparently had the perception of DT chummying up to the enemy. Imagine the counter survelliance work thats going to require now. - The meeting was scheduled to last 7 hours, it lasted 3 and its well documents it was a 1 way conversation of Putin ranting about his demands.
- DT was very vocal and even doubled down on his expectations and then he came away from the meeting with no output. Hes come out of it looking like putin is stronger than him and he cant negotiate
Surely even the most hardcore MAGA has to be questioning things.
My main takeaway was how pale the Orange one was in the press conference after the talks.
I think he finally realised he is onto a loss with this one.
Burrrrrrrrrn
Somehow I have “we didn’t start the fire” in my head today.
Must be because of Israel bombing Qatar and the Nepalese government buildings being burnt down.
This seems pretty bad. They targeted the group that were negotiating on behalf of Hamas in Qatar. If Trump agreed to this, then it’s a complete mess. Instead of negotiating, they’ve just killed the negotiators.
It’s clear through this action, if it wasn’t already, that Israel wants victory and not peace.
There’s nothing to see here, as it’s no different to the many Hamas commanders already targeted whilst in Syria or Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, etc. A terrorist commander is still DPH, even whilst conducting bad faith negotiations.
Bad faith or not, you can’t be claiming to want peace, and saying you’re negotiating a deal, to then bomb the place you invited them to for those negotiations.
Hamas have said they survived anyway… So yeah, all this has done is escalate things, again.
It’s less where they were invited to and more where the Senior leaders have been hiding since before they started the war.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the head of the Palestinian Authority is in London at the moment, if I was Israel I would look at getting rid of anyone who could challenge his authority and then negotiate with him.
So looks like Russia is testing NATO. Sending drones pretty deep into Poland, forcing a response.
The trouble is, as much as this is Russia being deliberately provocative, it’s not the first time they’ve sent drones through Poland and seemingly the only publicly visible change this time around is that Poland shot them down. It makes it hard to do anything other than what has already been done before.
That said, if it becomes apparent that this time is different - let’s say the drones were actually destined for somewhere in Poland or they strayed far deeper into Polish territory than before - then the only reasonable response, according to the wording of the North Atlantic Treaty, would be an invocation of Article 5. Anything else at this stage would given Putin carte blanche to carry on his offensive actions towards NATO allies.

Radio 4 on the way to work this morning was talking of invoking Article 4 of the NATO treaty. This is because there was no actual attack on NATO but Putin seems to be pushing the envelope.
Seems like the appropriate action. Then I’d guess they’ll decide to move more aerial defence measures into place to help stop any incursions in the future.
You’d have thought this would have taken place when the Polish farmer was killed a couple of years ago.
Everything that the Western alliance has been doing over the past couple of years has felt slow, and I can’t help but feel that this slowness has emboldened and empowered Putin. Rearmament of the Rheinland Mark 2.
Wasn’t that a Ukrainian SAM that went wild?
So the Russians have graduated from drone incursions to Mig-31’s
I fully believe that we need to follow Turkey’s example with these incursions. I’m reminded of a certain historic statement about sending a marching band to the Rhein.
