What are some straight-up facts people just won't swallow?

As someone who was in that hidden number I agree to an extent that the stigma is unfair. What I didn’t like though was Philip Davies trying to filibuster the domestic violence bill going through parliament because it concentrated on women rather than men. Anything to increase awareness of DV and increase the stigma on those doing it is a step forward and I welcomed it. Would I have liked the bill to do more for male victims? Hell yes, but his reasons for blocking it were ridiculous

Oh look the daily mail comment.

The old lefty trick of attacking the person with a poor attempt to be funny.

Mate, I used to be big on climate change etc it’s only recently it’s swayed. And you can see the hypocrisy and manipulation of statistics as it’s a way to control peoples behaviours.

You really think only filling your kettle up the right amount will counter Band Q down the road blazing 500 odd lightbulbs. The U.K. isn’t even a big polluter in the world.

Even if you do believe it:

And when Extinction Rebellion doorknobs are cutting about wearing synthetic clothing, and celebrities using private jets, double standards for industry and joe bloggs, you can see the hypocrisy and start to question why.

We have digressed.

In the 70s it was global cooling.
In the 80s it was Hole in the Ozone.
In the 90s it was Global Warming.
In the 00s it was Climate Change.
Now it’s a Climate “Emergency”.

It’s scaremogering, brainwashing and manipulation. Even the scientific community are debating it. And there’s several theories.

Electric cars aren’t good for the environment for several reason.

Wind turbines have had a negative effect on wildlife and eco systems. So much that the Scottishness government hasn’t commissioned several reasearchs because it will show negatively. Plus Australia is removing their wind farms.

You can never have 100% renewable power. The closest is Nuclear.

And for a laugh:

I agree on the double standards of extinction rebellion, and I’m completely hypocritical on my use of energy/recycling. But doing even little things has a cumulative effect and may lead to other bigger changes over time in ourselves and others. But simply saying I’m not going to try and improve because someone is worse than me is ridiculous.

  1. Not a lefty, right of centre, currently politically homeless.
  2. Not an attempt to be funny, simply stating facts as I see them. I used to read the Daily Mail as that’s what we had at home. I then grew up and thought about what I was reading and realised it was a paper full of lies and any facts were twisted beyond recognition to suit their hate fuelled agenda.

No it doesn’t, you recycling your weekly rubbish will do naff all when we sell our rubbish to China, and China dumps it all in the sea!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for being a better steward for the earth.

But I’m sick of the hypocrisy and manipulation of standards for money/power/controlling the people. Greta Thunberg created a bigger carbon footprint from that stupid boating trip when the crew flew back. And when is she set to arrive in Africa? India? China?

But when you get idiots in synthetic clothing gobbing off at me for wearing leather and hunting (I would prefer to remove myself from the corrupt and questionable standards of the food industry (especially halal) and sustain myself and shoulder that responsibility onto myself) and suddenly I’m the bad person? I probably have more interest, notice, give more care and do more for the Wildlife and eco systems around me than 98% of those spiced pumpkin latte drinking, granola eating, knee jerking idiots.

Perfect example? The last offshore Europe event, where these doorknobs made a protest… when the theme of the event was decommissioned and environmental impact.
Including some girl who “protested” with her cuddly toys, which were ironically synthetic and made from the petrochemicals process. Not to mention the petrol generator to charge phones, plastic containers and other things.

It’s typical lefty mentality. Emotions instead of facts.

Anyone tried swallowing those cod liver oil tablets?!

Now that’s hard to swallow.

The ones I had were red and flavourless.

Really? Not the huge gel tablet things? Designed for pelicans?

Should’ve taken the blue pill.

Talking to someone when I was getting the paper this morning. Adamant that the Conservatives won’t get leaving the eu sorted by the end of Jan.

Well, it’s true. It’s genuinely the plan. It’s a milestone, not the finish line.

The first part of the leave process which is actually breaking the ties will get done, so the government can then get on with the other things. He didn’t even think the first stage would get done.

But it was the conservatives who consistently voted against leaving last time around? Where’s the guarantee their own infighting won’t stall things again?

Didn’t have quite the same natural majority then and I think Boris Johnson made it clear when he withdrew the Whip from some big names who I suspect thought they were untouchable, what his approach is with anyone advocating anything other than his line, he wasn’t bothered by upsetting them or them not liking him.
I’ve been looking forward to this all my adult life and a bit before that as the stupidity of protectionist Common Market rules, that restricted the free market came to my attention when I was 10/11. I didn’t see it as restricting the free market at that age, just plain stupid.
I’m more than glad we didn’t end up with a “hung parliament” and more of the dithering we’ve had for the last 3½ years.
Interesting that as far as I’m aware all of the defectors are no longer MPs, which they probably didn’t see coming.

Because the people have spoken. The people spoke with the ballot box and they have seen the devastating effect ignoring the people had with Labours crippling defeat.

Corbyn still refusing to resign. That cost them 2 General Elections and complete devastation in Scotland, typical of a Socialist Dictator, so at least he’s getting back to their Socialist roots…

I know that we can block individual persons on here, but is there a way to block an entire thread?
Because this one is as dull as dishwater and I keep seeing the little notifications that there are updated threads, only to look and think “Oh. :frowning: It’s just that one again.”

The little box with ‘tracking’ or ‘normal’ in it, at the bottom. If you click on it there’s an option to mute.
