Well, I for on am heartily glad climate change is a hoax, otherwise we’d really be in trouble!
in lieu of any advice coming out of HQAC, our region or Wing i saw this and thought it might help the masses?
… we’re currently being hit by hailstones.
I’ve not had to water the garden tonight!
I didn’t have to fill the duck pond either!
This graph is just looking even worse now:
We had some rain yesterday, which added 5mm. But this is dire. I feel like more alarm bells should be going off? That average vs actual deviation is getting bigger and bigger.
I know they’re not the most efficient operations, but the fact that we’re not heavily investing into desalinisation plants is a real concern - even if they’re only used for emergencies.
The pattern is towards summers that are, on average, drier than we’ve had previously. With a growing population, that water is going to have to come from somewhere.
Similarly, the water companies need to be getting an absolute hiding for their mishandling of leaking infrastructure - and for it not to be possible to pass the costs of that mismanagement on to customers!
Where do you get this graph from?
We’ve had a another heavy shower this morning, given how dry it has been makes me wonder if we’ll have any form of flash floods
This website. Put in location, then set it to year to date on the scale. It’ll use data from the nearest weather station. Also remember to set it to metric! What the hell is an inch or an F…
The problem is we’re just not investing in water infra at all. Or any other infra for that matter. We’ve not built a proper reservoir since 1992. Crazy.
Interesting, your chart is very different to mine…
But also to compare 2024
The highest temperature during this period was 29.1℃ on the 2025-08-12. The lowest temperature was -3.8℃ on the 2025-01-04. There was a total amount of 233.305mm precipitation during this period. The day with the most precipitation was 2025-01-05 when 26.421mm of precipitation fell.
I like the summary paragraph at the the end…
I’d expect that, tbh. I’m South coast ish, so would expect less rain.
That is unbelievably specific
Well, you’re closer than me But I’m a lot further east. Wouldn’t think it’d make that much difference!
Even if I look at my 4 nearest stations, they are all very, very low on rainfall. So I don’t think it’s an error with a single station. I just think Sussex, especially near me, has had F all rain!
Woken up to some decent rain this morning for a nice change! Although looking at the radar, we’ve still got nothing compared to over in Hampshire way. Looks like those of you over there have had/having some seriously heavy rain!
Yep, has been raining all night in good old Hants! …just stopped as I got to work!
Here’s a post from the Isle of Wight, from yesterday morning.
Bloomin heck. that’s a lot of water!
Stopped here now too! But the really heavy band is now well into Sussex and creeping closer towards me. I’ve got an artic coming in at 0930 which needs unloading. Think I’m going to be getting very wet on the fork lift
Let me say now the obligatory phrase: “Well, it’s desperately needed”
We’ve only really had a couple of showers in the time I’ve been back in the UK, so I’m not shocked about the water shortages. I’m also looking forward to being able to have a run in a proper torrential downpour again.
Oh dear, Mottistone is a lovely place to visit - lots of water damage!
The band of rain ended up not being too bad. 5 mins of very heavy, then it was over!
