It wouldn’t be at retail cost, there’d be some sort of discount applied (aside from the bulk discount). When I order things in work we get the same thing.
I’m aware of that. What I was getting at was they could issue more per person based on the discounted costs.

Do I understand this correctly? - Current VRT officers will not be issued with new insignia retrospectively but are required to wear the new RAFAC style prior to 1 Nov 17?
The initial issue will not be delivered through the RAF supply chain, but via HQAC > WHQs > Sqns
It simply means you won’t be able to demand them from RAF stores
The RAFAC insignia is being sent out to current uniform staff and should be received and worn by 01 Nov. What isn’t clear, is what happens if someone was promoted after 01 Nov, as it sounds like they’d have to procure their own rank slides.
Ah - I see. Thanks
Presumably they are issued from the “limited supply” at WHQs?
Edit: or ATF
Depends if the WSO’s acquire them as extras for themselves or not! I know a fair few that wouldn’t give a hoot and do just that…
I am still a little confused by the mechanism of all this
I will still be RAFVR(T) until 31 October when I will be ordered to relinquish my commission but may be appointed to RAFAC before then.
As an aside, can you be ordered to relinquish something? I presume yes in this case as I am in the RAFVR(T) so can be so ordered by those above.
But what if I haven’t accepted the RAFAC Commission, as it is something I haven’t applied for, seen the requirements for or signed for?
After 1 November in this case I will no longer be in the RAFVR(T) so am I no longer in the Cadets, am I automatically a CI?
I think I will do as CAC suggested and ask my WSO next week…
They have not been given any more information than the rest us.
So kept in the dark, huh?
So how come SNCOS are being treated badly again if we want to buy other slides there’s no supplier only supplier for officer tabs.
There will be a supplier from 2018 - most likely Cadet Direct.
I imagine there is not sufficient supply to offer a private purchase at this stage - probably as there was debate over being the same as an officer slide or the same as a Staff Cadet slide.
2018 is only 2 months after the full handover, the really question is when in 2018…
This is a whole mess only of the RAFs doing. They didn’t want people sans-insignia despite popular opinion and yet didn’t have the commercial green light to bring into effect a supply chain. 2019 is the official supply date highlighting that they are tied into a current contract and any extras are hugely expensive as they are out of contract. This is a large amount of cadet money being wasted. They should wait for the supply chain to kick in, and in the meantime, let people wear the existing, or none at all. It WONT MATTER!
Now that the volunteers of the RAFAC are losing their VR military commission is there any need for anybody associated with the RAFAC to hold a Queens commission?
In the past yes as the rank and file has a commission so the senior management needed a commission. Now that the rank and file no longer have a VR commissions is there any need for management to hold military commissions? Does the CAC need a FTRS commission to command civilians in uniform? Does the RC and ARC or WExO need a commission?
The only people who it could be said need a military commission are the Delivery Duty Holders as they could be court marshalled if fault was found. As for the rest I don’t know.
Think it’s been said before the WeXOs will move to RAFAC commission. I guess it follows logically that ARC would also.
But when has logic been involved in all this?
From the update posted on Friday to the CFC page on SharePoint.
This would include the likes of TG staff who were previously FTRS, but have been moved to CS posts - TG5 is an example of this.
All RCs are now FTRS posts.
A lot of ARC/WEXO posts are being moved to CS.
Unfortunately the VR(T) or now CFC indicates that the holder is a Volunteer or was and took up a CS position to support the RAFAC, however this clearly isn’t always the case and whist aligns HQ Staff with us, the similarities don’t exist.
The long and short answer is no, we don’t need anyone running the ATC who has a Sovereigns Commission, once the VR(T) is consigned to history.
BUT that wouldn’t go down very well wrt enhancing pensions, so we’ll still have these people in the system, sucking up OTT public sector salaries.
