The RAF might be soon as well…
going back to 2 classes of WO?
Guessing Sqn WO will be WO2
Station WO and up WO1?
I’ve heard that rumour too, but only for TG1?
Should go back to 3 classes of WO
Just make everyone a Warrant Officer
NO!
Platoon Sergeants Major only lasted for 2 years for good reason
At least, otherwise we’re pretending that CASWO is the same as a Cmd WO, who’s the same as a SWO, etc.
is CASWO WORAF not commisioned as an OF-2 like the Army Sergeant Majors have been?
Can anyone shed some light as to why this is the case? Always been curious and have yet to find an answer online
Is it not financial? If they hadn’t gone down that route they would’ve been LE Commissioned so it doesn’t put them behind their peers who aren’t selected for that role.
It was a strange decision in the first place “let’s put SNCO’s in Command of Platoons rather than just commissioning them”
This makes sense. Was wondering if it was something to do with QRs and level of authority but pay seems like a reasonable suggestion
That would track wth the SEAC being commisioned as an OF3, as their LE pals would likeley have veen promoted by the end of their ASM/CRAM/WORAF/WONS tour
Pretty sure some if not all of the Army ones are Majors by the time they retire.
How does WO pay compare to Flt Lt pay?
OR9-06 (supplement 4): £63,717.96
OF2-08 (Direct Entry): £59,902.68
OF2-(OCFR)-19 (Late Entry): £66,764.28
I’ve used the highest pay band/ supplement available for all
What’s this in English please?
OR9-06 (supplement 4): £63,717.96
WO paid rate
OF2-08 (Direct Entry): £59,902.68
Flt Lt direct entry as officer promoted to rank
OF2-(OCFR)-19 (Late Entry): £66,764.28
Ex-ranker commissioned at Flt Lt
What Oz said
Supp 4 is only for AAC pilots, though; for everyone else the top pay is supp 3.
Edit: Well, I say ‘everyone else’ but actually that only applies to supp 3 trades / specialisations. If you’re in supp 1 or 2 you can only get supp 3 pay by re-mustering.
