What the Sun used to refer to as “Mondeo Man”
Or Worcester woman.
That’s fair.
@pEp the irony being, of course, the very president you like has been found guilty of sexual assault.
Well, I don’t like him I do like him more than I like Harris though, also, I don’t really like politics that much
so I might stop posting here
The Orange One is showing a very vindictive, almost malevolent, side.
Luckily, Fauci had the pre-emptive pardon from Biden.
Removing security clearances from 51 intelligence personnel - nasty.
He has (illegally it would seem) fired some inspector generals, what’s the motive for that I wonder?
Just hearing that he want to apply 25% tariffs & sanctions against Colombia as they wouldn’t allow 2 aircraft to land with deportees onboard.
He still want to take over Greenland!
What a petulant, childish person.
Although he has said that gets on well with Kier Starmer and that he’s doing a very good job.
I reckon Nigel was crying into his cornflakes when he saw that.
Removing security clearances from people who’d acted against him due to their political motivations seems entirely fair to me. Vetting is about trust and POTUS cannot trust these people to act apolitically.
However, removing Secret Service security protection from people who are clearly the targets of terrorists and foreign powers is very vindictive indeed.
Not to mention Elon…
Need to check back, but I think that they / associated departments were tasked to investigate the circumstances? Even if not the case, it sets a standard that says he will not tolerate any actions against him - maybe a warning shot “pour encouragez les autres?”
Who will he set upon next? All those who helped him on his way to become a convicted felon?
Yeah i cant see that flying, even republicans senators arent cool with it.
This is the only perk from DT becoming president
Even Lindsey Graham suggests what he did there was illegal. Apparently they need 30 days notice and some other stuff too.
I can’t help thinking that if Boris had sacked Sue Gray a few years ago instead leaving Starmer to do it, we’d be in a much better place now.
Whenever a MAGA voices their support for it, I just point out that the US would have to subsidise Greenland’s economy like Denmark does, which will cost over $500m per year. Normally they don’t like that sort of thing.
Except they won’t subsidise it. Instead they’ll destroy the natural ecosystems to get to the mineral riches available. Denmark have decided that half a billion is worth it to preserve the beauty of Greenland
You’ve opened up a dialogue which is encouraging, the trouble is that British and American politics, identity and world view are so vastly different you feel like you’re being attacked but in actuality, we don’t mind the debate!
It’s often said that even our conservatives would be left leaning to Americans so that should help you see why we all seem so ridiculously liberal (I voted conservative in a number of elections but I would probably describe my politics as centrist rather than right wing)
I can’t see Greenland agreeing to that, therefore America would need to take Greenland by force. Obviously Trump could lie like the child he is, but still. If I were them, I’d get 10 years of funding up front.
In the Telegraph today -
British voters actually back Trump’s policies – here’s the proof
More than half of those surveyed support a ‘border emergency’ in the Channel, pollster finds
Ultimately some of the things he is saying he will do, and is arguably getting on with doing are populist.
In stark contrast to the UK Labour Gov he has done a lot very quickly, whereas here in their 6 months they have removed the Winter Fuel Allowance for the majority and increased the costs for companies to employ staff, a policy that doesn’t exactly support reducing unemployment which in turn reduces the welfare bill.
The problem with comparing to us is how we and they govern. Our PM has significantly less power than their president.
The other thing is, a lot of those examples are talk the talk but don’t really mean much in real terms. Things that sound great on the face of it that can be shouted at rally’s but never really materialize into anything.
I do generally support all those things above. Just I don’t support the way Trump plans on achieving some of them.
If they had been Daily Wail readers, the numbers would have been much higher!
Great ideas on paper - now put them into effect & watch the associated costs rocket… The great unwashed public have no idea of the financial / political / societal / ramifications.
Trump’s “alien” deportation costs at the moment are being rolled into the Defence budget (AIr Force aircraft / crew), same for Army being utilised at the borders = all hidden away, no immediate cost to the tax payers. Of course, SecDef Hesgeth ain’t going to argue!
Trade tariffs are all well & good if you have bargaining power on the essential items that you have…I think that the UK would lose that battle in many areas. Trump used his leverage to effectively blackmail Columbia into accepting deportees on military aircraft, or get hammered with 25% tariffs & other sanctions. Bully boy tactics.
The great 'Merican public will start to notice when the reduction in their cheap labour pool starts to bring costs up.
I know this is off topic, but i looked at this the other day as a friend said the same thing. The list isnt insignificant (you can find other lists on Twitter), the difference is mostly this stuff isn’t reported on because it’s dull but functional.
