Trump's Second Term Chat

Yep, I’m not a fan of this government but they seem to be playing a blinder in how they deal with the US.

Okay, this has got even funnie, to me at least.

We’ve gone from the quote above about the tariff being super simple etc to this:

Ah yes, a super simple reciprocal tariff.

Literally everything he says is a load of tosh.

Also, notably missing from Trumps tariff list is Russia and Belerus. This is due to existing sanctions, the White House says.

Russia - the US imported $3.2 billion in goods and exported $595 million. Trade deficit of 2.7 billion, no tariffs.

Well…

It’s the impact of Brexit. We’re not part of a big enough trading bloc to fight back, (not that I think it’s worth it, because you can’t fight stupid) so we have to play smart.

…international stage and current political status and issues.

While internally they are not winning prizes for their decisions (while I accept they are valid, justified and necessary - thanks to what was inherited) on an international stage i think we look stronger now than we have for a while

US tariffs on the British Indian Ocean Territory (Chagos Is)? To my knowledge, the only thing on those islands is a US base.

Sounds like safe access zones for women in need of abortions are being targeted as a bargaining chip for future trade agreements with the USA.

Not surprising, considering how much money comes from the USA to revert women’s reproductive rights, but the fact it’s so brazen is concerning.

They’ve put tariffs on islands inhabited solely by penguins.

It wouldn’t have surprised me to see Rhode Island, Long Island, and Hawaii on the list.

Biggest single day loss on the US markets since Covid in 2020. So what’s their positive swing on it?

out of every 10 soldiers that get exported to the US, 1 goes to the deprtment of the treasury

2 trillion dollars wiped off the stock market in 25 seconds today

Funny how when the Stock Market didn’t perform under Biden it was a sign that he wasn’t doing well, but these days you “can’t pay attention to that as an indicator”.

It’s just nuts that the couple of times he’s dipped his toe into tariffs the market reacted negatively, and despite that it’s full ahead with more and larger.
