This is what scares me. JD Vance doesnt get talked about enough, hes full on religious nut job

Not just Vance, but the team around him. He’ll do as he’s told. Not in a good way for everyone else.

Musk is already doing Nazi salutes… :man_facepalming: :man_facepalming: :man_facepalming:

Wonderful.

I thought this must be out of context or doctored in some way.

With the words, I’m not sure what to make of it.

Nah, I don’t care what he said with it. “My heart goes out”. Blah blah. That’s a Nazi salute. He did it twice in a row. He knows exactly what he’s doing. He’s not stupid. He might be an idiot, but he’s not stupid.

Out of Context, this could refer to any number of people in trumps new cabinet

Lovely little start on the Wiki for ‘Roman Salute’

The Roman salute, also known as the Fascist salute

So yeah he knows what he was doing. It’s not Roman it’s 1930’s and 40’s Italy.

The guy grew up in a wealthy family in apartheid South Africa. This behaviour is sadly not surprising.

Yeah “Roman Salute” is just plausible deniability for the dog whistle that it is.

Remember, it’s only Fascism if it’s from the Fascia District of Trentino.

Otherwise it’s just Sparkling Authoritarianism.

So have we all just been pardoned by Joe Biden or are there limits to who he’s given them?

Bit of conspiracy thinking here - but… I’m convinced of the following…

Trump will try to run for a third time. He will need to force a change of the constitution… but that’s “details”.

With media becoming controlled by an ever narrowing minority - fact checkers being removed - Tik Tok
being green lit again… “The Public” will be told what to think in ever greater ways à la 1984.

The BIG companies have been taking BILLIONS out of the economy. This is simply under utilised capital…

Apple Cash reserves in November 2023 were $162bn
Amazon equity & cash reserves at Sept 2024 were $259bn
Facebook… $70bn
Microsoft … €80bn
Alphabet (Google) €76bn

If they “chose to”, these companies could give every person on the planet @ $80 each…

But, why are they sitting in this capital…? To help propel their company into space…,

I was taken by the appearance of corporate brands such as Virgin Galactic and Apple, adorning the lunar space station in the Brad Pitt movie Ad Astra…

I realise it’s (literally) the stuff of science fiction… but the secret to a good CT is plausibility!

With a bit of luck, civilisation will reap the benefits of this second space race - but… I suspect we’ll just pay even more to swell their coffers…

(Btw, was I the only person thinking Baron Trump looks like a mystified, cross between Lurch and Eddie Munster…?)

The whole thing of signing executive orders in a stadium surrounded by people cheering is all very Kim Jung Un style :joy:

Really weird, but guess that’s good thing.

Can’t wait until we really get going and find out from Trump that work makes us free…

The Republican Party want shot of him and have done from day 1, especially this time where he is going to be leaning in “non-political” people like Musk rather than going to them for advice, he will never get an amendment through.

The interesting bit will be his inevitable falling out with Musk, how will it change things when Elon is calling for him to resign on Twitter every day?

I think spitting image had an opinion on this

Yes it’s a joke, but I honestly think Musk has fond memories of Apartheid.

I much preferred the “fire & brimstone” inauguration speech he made 8 yrs ago (despite making stupid promises such as "we will build / make everything with 'Merican steel); this quieter version was rather scary in comparison. The crowd clapping when he said he would take back the Panama Canal…

this is interesting. I was listening via R4 PM who played it live on my commute home. without the visual picture i took him to sound “reasonable” in his delivery (not necessarily the wording, but delivery) as he seemed less energetic and animated and appeared to stay “on topic” without random rambling tangents.
i thought he’d seems “calmer” but now knowing he was doing so because he was reading it changes my view…

yet is it not in the constitution that those born in the USA are by default USA citizens?
Trump has indicated that will change - but will require a change (amendment) to the constitution…

or how i understand it based on some loose reading. (ie I am happy to be corrected)

there are colleagues in my office who have said he survived 2 assassination attempts as a candidate in the last 6 months, how many can we expect in the next four years?

while i am not pro-assassination, i can see their logic

didn’t stop Roosevelt

you mean there could be an change to gun laws?
#yeahright

His two other speeches later on that were unscripted were a complete rambling mess, as I’ve come to expect!

I was also listening on the radio and I also thought Trump sounded strange in his delivery. I thought it was very monotone and scripted. Trump is older now that Biden was on his inauguration and his age is starting to show. If he does want 4 more years he will be 86.
