You have completely missed the point. And they are recruitment posters/memes/whatever you want. You bang them out to the demographic you want/need on the platform you need. What they don’t require is a bunch of officers gobbing off about how amazing they are on social media.
No it’s not. You are missing the point.
And I like how every other statement I have made has been missed. You are just cherry picking the bits to try and have a pop.
I’ve seen the effect and the responses from various men and women in various branch’s. It’s universally hated.
No fella, I’m cherry-picking the bits that I don’t understand and am asking for clarification, because what’s coming across sounds too dumb to be true.
So, by all means, explain what your point is, because you’re right. I’m missing it.
You’ve gone from saying that all social media is evil (yet you engage with forums ) to saying that only senior officers should be removed from social media.
Yes there should be some consideration for security but doesn’t social media help make these people more real and reinforce whatever civil-military relations exist in this country?
Your blinkered view of social media isn’t reflected in modern society.
Whoa whoa whoa. No need for dropping the Fella. Jeez.
In simple terms
Social media can be bad, cringeworthy and a security risk.
Officers and everyone on certain social media, unchecked and unpunished, creating cringeworthy and embarrassing content is bringing their respective units into disrepute.
To the point where there’s dedicated Social media accounts set up to hunt for said content to embarrass them and highlight the issue.
Not to mention the various trouble officers are getting into for “checking in” while in countries they shouldn’t have.
The vast majority of people under said officers command, dislike it and disapprove of it. They aren’t paid to be on social media.
No I haven’t said all social media is evil st all. I’ve said it’s cringeworthy and embarrassing the content of officers and personal accounts of memebers of the Forces.
I do however have a particular dislike for twitter and find it and it’s content for various branches of the military and emergency services embarrassing and Cringey.
And yes I disagree with senior officers being on Twitter, they aren’t paid to be online “influencers” they are paid to manage and do a job.
A lot of people under their command lose respect for them with their cringeworthy content.
You have done some pretty impressive mental olympics to try and go from me raising points held by a lot of menebers of the Forces, to trying to paint me out as a homophobe. And you have obviously spent no time in a bar with bootnecks…
Personal accounts? Yes. With appropriate security measures?
Armed Forces Accounts? Not a million of them, officers aren’t paid to be on social media, and should be heavily monitored and censored.
I’ve had various arguments with various pages of social media accounts, official and unofficial of branch’s of the military, to have photos of myself removed, as they were posted without consent or consideration.
I’ve also had numerous arguments with officers in my current employment because I refuse to consent to my photos being used online, on social media, or even be involved in their stupid twitter ego boosts.
Does anyone fancy mentioning the original issue, HQAC banning the use of TikTok?
If not, I don’t think anything really productive can arise out of this.
The clock is running…
Tik
Tok
Tik

Did you win Dawn’s poetry prize…??
Chatting to my cadets last night, and it would seem that most of them want to use TiK Tok for recipe ideas!
