Who says the Donkeys would want to lead the RAFAC?
Makes sense; theyāre floaters tooā¦
The sooner they get rid of 18+ ācadetsā the better.
Led by Asses?
Hoof footed quadrupeds or the human kind.
The end of the month is nigh, has anyone heard of the further update we are expecting?
Welcome to the RAFAC, as youre obviously new here, just checking in to see how youre finding itā¦
Weāll hear nothing for about 9 months, then be told that it has been implemented 3 weeks after the fact.
I react with a laughing emoji, but deep down know that this is likely the case.
Anyone know what if anything has happened on this since? After the warning order seems to have been radio silence for 5 months or soā¦
All Iāve heard in the grape vine is that they keeping getting advised that they have to guillotine cadet service at 18 within ATC units but this conflicts with CCF units who can keep until school leaving age & HQAC wants a one Size fits all answer but donāt like the answer they keep getting.
I think itās being put in the ātoo difficult leave to the next commandantā box.
It recently came out on one of the weekly briefings, itās going on the air force board I want to say this month, and approved in June (maybe I would have to go back and look) with release over the summer holidays ready for September.
So 'tis, thanks for reminding me to check that brief too!

Seems a weirdly easy problem to fix.
Cadets get chopped at 18, CCF at the end of Y13?
I canāt have solved the problem that quickly so there must be more to it. Not a CCFist so donāt know their gig, so they get DBSed at 18 as ours do?
Thereās no need to DBS schoolchildren, just because their birthday is before the end of the academic year. Why does it need to be any different for the ATC?
Indeed. Peer exemption. Iām just not up to speed with how it works but I think that was one of the post-18 options being looked at.
FWIW in Scouts it is a strict āyou leave the day before you turn 18 or become an adult volunteerā and it doesnāt work that well.
Letting cadets stay till the end of year 13 / Aug 31 of their year 13 would be preferable if it can be done within the rules.
Then CFAV service starts on Sept 1st!
How would this work in areas where the education system is different from England?
I think the peer exemption only applies in educational institutions hence why itās a CCF thing & not available in community cadet units which is where the issue comes of having one size fits all.
If you accept that the CCF are different to the ATC you can have one rule for one & one for another but if you try to combine you get the oil & water problems.
Could enable you to run a summer CFAV induction camp and get everyone adjusting and qualifiedā¦
Why though, if the ACF are starting to toy with the idea of staff cadets, they take a step forward and we have to take 2 back just to be different?
