See the ‘Death spiral’ thread for a clue.
We would (eventually) receive a communication blaming them receiving too many FOIs. This communication would be released roughly 3 days after its content was leaked on here anyhow.
TK would then call a Town Hall where it would be sold as answering questions but the main messaging would be berating CFAVs for daring to ask questions.
crikey - you think it is going down hill that fast TK will still be in post?
I would really hope that HQ PS would step in before that happens. If SW ended up with all their PS leaving, HQ would have to step in. I’m of the view that they are already at that point where they needed to step in. The FOI showed to there was a lack of common working between SW and HQ. It was RC SW saying to HQ ‘this is what is happening’ and TK saying ‘okay, I agree’. Where is the discussion of how HQ can support with PS?
it does make me wonder, ok so they have stopped the team all resigning on mass, but for how long?
once it is all up and running how much better will the individual actually feel? given some are likely to have genuinely looked at alternative options how much of that will be playing in the back of their mind in 3-6-12 months time when although “better” still isn’t great…
I ‘know’ someone who is CS in the MOD. They work in an office that was severely overworked due to gapped posts. It wasn’t going well, think SW but on a national scale.
Then, one day, someone had a bright idea. 2/3 holding officers fresh out of Cranwell and Dartmouth were posted in to ‘get an insight’ into their chosen careers, before starting their phase 2 training.
I’ll give you one guess what the ‘insight’ entailed?
CS were happy because the workload reduced to normal.
Holdies were happy because they were getting a cheeky heads-up into phase 2.
And what the unions didn’t know, didn’t hurt them.
How can they stop people from resigning? Moving, yes they can drag their feet, but not resigning.
my point exactly…
based on what i have heard part of the reason to hit the pause button was to address the workload and stop the staff handing in their notice “ok, yes this isn’t great lets put plan X into place will that appease you?”
but how temporary is the fix…will the change in working conditions be sufficient to change people’s mind long term…?
My experience is that, if they are all truly at the point where they needed to give an ultimatum on their working conditions, then once the work kicks back in again they’ll last around a month before resigning anyhow. Even if their workload is reduced.
Once you’ve reached the mental state of needing to provide an ultimatum, there’s very little that can be done to stop that person leaving.
I would assume the logic is that they have stopped new work coming in, actually a lot of new work because we’ve paused the most important 6 weeks of the year. That has given the staff 6 weeks to get upto date with what they already had in the inboxes ready for a reboot with only an October halfterm and Remembrance Day which cause real work on the horizon.
I don’t agree with what was done but I do see the logic and emptying the in tray can really make a difference to morale.
Well lets hope so as i have had an admin issue outstanding since April 2024, i suspect they will have binned a lot of the older admin requests, therefore will have to resubmit and will be treated as a new request.
4 working days to go… I do hope the unpause button will be pressed - I have an off Sqn event Monday night…
We are similar due to go to an event on 1st September its a sold out event. I’ve emailed to ask whether we can, or whether I can just give the tickets to the parents who paid for them.
Radio silence at this stage is somewhat concerning…
It was BH so hopefully something heard soon
Personally (and I definitely don’t mean this as advice) I’d work to “I’ve been told we’re restarting on 1st Sept, therefore I will restart on this date unless wording is put out in advance to the contrary”
Oh my sweet summer child…
If i have to cancel my drill comp because its extended thats Gp Cpt 2 in Hants peed off and probable access to a MOD establishment in the future out the picture
We had a positive response today (and I’m aware of a couple of others who were the same for events same day or first week) our event on 1st Sep can go ahead with the main thing is for it to be approved by OC Wing rather than self approved. They Cc’d in the Wg Cdr and Dep OC to the reply.
So I’m hopefully for it going to plan
Hopefully said Group Captain’s realise that it’s not your fault and more importantly where the responsibility for such decisions lie.
